And the programming is the easy part… the other part to the equation is they need access to Coach Chad’s brain.
Was this real or did you photoshop it?
Yikes, this actually stresses me out. I love both products and have been using them together for years, but TR is so much more polished and focused than Zwift. TR is all about getting you faster and Zwift as others of said is purely entertainment. On top of that they don’t seem to know what they are doing half the time. So many half baked features and problems that stick around for years. Are they still a software company? Or is it all about hardware now? Plus their workout module UI and experience in general is awful and I can’t see them updating that quickly (since they don’t do anything quickly).
I actually like the idea of them functioning together but would be totally nervous about Zwift having any control over TR given their history. I just hope the TR app/calendar/analytics/plan builder/etc would still exist separately and function as it does today.
I use both but have mainly used Zwift for the past 3 months or so doing longer endurance rides.
What I can see happening is: TR workouts can be sent to Zwift like TP does. It would be a big win for Zwift and bring more awareness to TR.
I assume there is some sort of licensing fee that TP gets currently.
Personally, I think people are over reacting to Zwift survey, the seem to use it as a way of gauging interest before commuting development (if they do), setting extreme examples to see if people click on them, media then get hold of these surveys and use scare tactics to get click’s, here’s a a survey from a couple of years ago, no $45 a month membership as far as I can tell
Although … of course, this survey could be a refinement of the previous survey, but that would indicate that they aren’t interest in TR and have been working on this, since the survey I linked
Lots of speculation here; interesting opportunities ranging from Zwift acquiring TR, to Zwift licensing TR’s IP, to Zwift developing their own alternative to TR, and Zwift just treading the waters with a survey before taking further steps. And I suppose we’ll all know how this pans out in due time (or not, depending).
As several others here have said they do, I too subscribe to both services. I find TR most useful when I am quite motivated and/or am looking to do quality sessions, but I find it is easier to churn out low intensity sessions on Zwift or when I feel the urge to compete with myself up Alpe d’Zwift or with others in various races.
There is definitely some natural and interesting complementarity between Zwift and TR, especially as Zwift has established itself as no. 1 service for e-cycling competitions. I bet anyone who wants to improve their results in Zwift races would benefit greatly from TR’s training plans. Keep in mind that TR’s mission is “to make you a faster cyclist, whoever you are, and whatever your discipline” - there is nothing to say that racing on Zwift isn’t a “discipline”.
I personally would love to be able to ride in Watopia while I follow the TR training program - without the cumbersome setup of running both apps at the same time, so I’d really welcome any collaboration between the two services - so long as TR’s people can continue to do what they do best. Realizing the potential of a merger or acquisition, though, is often referred to as a 50-50 gamble, so whatever Zwift and TR decide to do, I hope they do it in a thoughful manner.
I don’t think people actually know or care what FTP is or why you might want to know it. They just see the number flash up and if it’s gone up they share it with people
I think you’re wrong here. I think there’s a lot of us using both products and if they were combined, TR would be the one to get the axe. This is provided Zwift can integrate it in a decent matter with a nice calendar and UI like TR has.
Unfortunately, that’s the part I have very little confidence Zwift can do given the way they have operated historically.
They could leave TR as a standalone/ rebrand and allow syncing of the workouts? Nate keeps his baby, zwift gets the workouts/ AT etc…
Charge me an extra $5 / month to just import my TR workouts into Zwift and I’m in. Zwift and TR can split the money however they choose and TR keeps my subscription.
For Zwifters w/o a TR account, charge them an extra $10 / month to access TR workouts and again, split the money.
What you don’t want to do is create a model that incentivizes the user to cancel one subscription if they can get the benefits of both from having just one.
Only issue I have had with Zwift in over 4 years is the unable to U turn recently. Fixed when next update went out.
Overall my experience with Zwift is more than positive. They provide me with indoor cycling environment far better than anyone else.
I wouldn’t do have the time on the bike if it wasn’t for Zwift. IMO if it disappeared tomorrow it would be a great loss and no matter what they do and how fast or slow they do it, there always going to be people complaining about something they don’t like.
I was having an issue where if I went to the menu it was automatically u turning me when I didn’t want to! I’ve tried a few workouts, and tbh, I didn’t find the UI or companion app that great tbh. But I “enjoy” doing some races and events, especially in place of an outdoor ride.
If this is a collaboration, I beg you not to make me play a computer game.
Then you stick with TR, simplez.
The “collaboration” would seem to be Z adding in TR, not the other way around.
Some people actually listen to the audio on Zwift? Wow.
We were forced to for years until they added the option to turn the intro music off.
Even with it on, there is just regular ambient noise and “game” sounds, but no music after you get into the game proper.
Good. I’m happy for other people to do both, but my nightmare scenario is that ‘adding in’ would mean ‘swallowing’, i.e. TR as we know and love it disappearing.
You do know you can turn sound off on whichever device you’re running Zwift on, right
