XTR 12s shifter problem

Hi all,

I started to have problems with my XTR 12s shifter… In the last few rides, the big leaver is not working properly. From time to time when I push it there is no resistance and nothing happens and then after a few pushes it starts working again.

I changed the cable but the problem persists.

I don’t have the specific details off the top of my head but this seems to be a fairly common issue with XT & XTR 12 speed shifters. IIRC there is a little spring in there that commonly breaks. I run XT 12 speed & purchased an SLX shifter to swap out in case the XT fails.

Yes, this is a known issue. The only real solution is a new shifter. I had to do the same and replaced my crummy xtr 12 with an xt 12 earlier this year, so far so good since.
