WorldWide "Disaster" Day - Dec 15, 2018

I actualy think disaster -2 looks like a really good workout, so great effort. I might use it instead of some of the other long scheduled rides. Good bit of variety, still hugely challenging, but not something that will leave me destroyed for the rest of the week (which is how I guess I’m going to be after completing disaster earlier)

And done. Took 2 quick breaks totaling 3 mins to refill bottles. It was really tough but I think I was expecting worse. Honestly I laughed at the little endurance segment at the end when looking at the workout but I think that was the toughest part for me.

(3) 24 oz bottle Skratch labs hydration
(1) 24 oz bottle of water
(2.5) packs Skratch labs chews
(1) SIS gel w/ 75 mg caffeine
(1) cold Brew coffee with 200mg caffeine

Congrats to all the finishers I’m seeing! Good work. It feels good to know I wasn’t the only one dying.

Oh and of course my heart rate monitor died so no heart rate data. Oh well. Power is the important one anyways.

I couldn’t get discord working. Found the channel but it would not activate.

Kinda surprised that I don’t feel as wrecked as I thought, especially how much of struggle even the last interval was (no way could I have bumped intensity at that point like someone did!). I don’t know whether that was due to proper fuelling, but
happy my real food approach seemed to work for me.

Fwiw, my nutrition was…
Breakfast - 30g porridge, 80g berries and a scoop of whey, and two whole grain slices of toast with jam, large mug of tea.
In ride - 2 x turkey and whole grain bread sandwiches; a banana, 3x gcn energy bars. Hydration was 4 800ml bottles of high 5 zero.

One comfort break, which was followed by the unintended extended break, due to the device crash. Not sure that really helped though - I felt quite blocked going back.

You are very welcome. I used it today as well. It’s an awesome workout and I like the range of efforts.

All done…no bathroom breaks, no stops…it tore my legs off…evil. But I’m glad I did it

Holy crap! Talk about over achieving! Looks like you went over on every single interval!

Now that we’re done with Disaster, who wants to take on Rockhouse? Shorter, but more intense!

We should rename this thread ‘The Masochists Thread’

Well I managed it but it was tough, no bathroom breaks but I did have to have a few back pedals on the final set of sprints - legs were mashed :weary:

Truth. No talking about the next nasty workout until we forget how much this one sucked.

I’m very surprised you could tolerate that much solid food (vs. food in liquid form). Did that work out for you?

I agree. However, if someone makes a Rockhouse-7, I’ll consider it.

That was a really hard section! I’d be surprised if anyone thought otherwise. Congrats!

No issues during or since. I ate half a sandwich after each of the 4x10’s.

It would be my normal approach to 4 hour outdoor rides. I have more issues with going totally sweet in the past. Wasn’t planning the banana, it was just there when I was refilling the bottles.

Truth be told I kinda feel the same way. It may just be that I kept hyping it up to be more than it is in my head, but I’m actually feeling fine. I don’t feel dramatically more sore than I’ve been in the past for other TR workouts on the plans. Some of the Saturday combination workouts for the rolling road race specialty plan are nearly as tough in my mind.

Fwiw I too spent a lot of time formulating a nutrition plan that I stuck to. My muscles hurt and my body yelled at me but I never hit a wall like I have on other longish rides before.

Yeah - feeling better now. Cramped up towards the end, but finished ok. Also curious what folks ate/drank. Me: 1.5 GoMacro bars and a banana, 2 bottles of water and 2 bottles of skratch hydration. A couple quick breaks off bike. On screen: Zwift tour of London stage 2 for the first part, then Woodstock Director’s Cut for remainder. Planning the entertainment is part of the fun Look forward to next TR global event! (In a while…)
