I had prosciutto and pears. And coffee. And a little later, bacon and eggs. I did the minus-2 version. Not bad at all.
Disaster-1 is done! Tough, but manageable. Hardest part was the fireworks at the end with the brief 200% sprints. First one was a shock .
Great work all! The live chat on discord helped me to get through it.
Made it. I dialled back the 4x10 threshold to 95% as not to blow the whole workout, probably not necessary. Like most those frigging sprints were the worst for me.
If Chad bonks, something has gone SERIOUSLY wrong!!!
Finally getting around to disaster -2. Starting at 3pm est.
Hey, I’m with you on that approach @mcneese.chad. Best to have too much than not enough.
The Discord chat made this entire thing entertaining. I look forward to repeating thing nonsense next year
For the record, I had 4 water bottles (two with drink mix), 3 granola bars, 2 gu gels, a banana, and a handful of sour patch kids to get me through this…somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 calories. I don’t feel destroyed, but I am hoping to catch a nap when my daughter goes to sleep.
Great job to everyone who participated
Why be normal when you can be happy?
Shame it didn’t go to plan. I was a bit fearful that not enough rest this week (travel and lack of sleep) would get me. Still remember you disappearing at speed on the Brevet Cymru back in May.
Couple of stops in the SS Sprints one Bio (excuse) and just hitting the wall. Pleased with my 1st attempt and Kudos to @mcneese.chad for the encouragement!!
Great job by all participants, it was a major mental as well as physical challenge
Sam
Finished the whole thing, sort of, on rollers. Fell apart a bit in the last hour but I kept peddling to the end. Four bottles, 2 with Infinit energy drink and 2 with water; four SIS gels; one banana; one Clif bar.
Congratulation to everyone on their Disaster rides!
Will recap later, but serious and massive thanks so much to every single person involved.
This is a mini-triumph for me with the doubts I had yesterday. I seriously couldn’t have done it without all the support from those riding and chatting along the way.
You are all incredible and I am in awe of this event, yet again!
Disaster -1 done.
Took a short break after the Threshold intervals and a slightly longer break after the VO2 intervals. Threw in an extra victory sprint at the end (20 sec x 800 W).
3 large rice cakes, 3 bottles of Skratch, an SiS caffeine gel, and some water. Worked super well.
Lots of fun! Now for unapproved recovery beverage.
Holy moly dude please tell me that TSS is wrong
Wrapped up…
Agree with everyone else… The Discord chat was huge!
Nutritition for me was
2x750ml Water
2x750ml Beta Fuel
2 SIS gels
2 shots of pickle juice
…and a packet of maple syrup as I bonked home the little castle
Congrats to everyone!!!
Done the full version and gave her a good tickle. As always, endeavours like this are 80% preparation and 20% execution. Normal dinner last night, solid breakfast (~200g dry oats as porridge) about 4h out, slice of banana loaf just before and then targeted ~100g carbs/hour (2/3 liquid 1/3 gel/Haribos). Went through 3.5 800ml bottles with 60g carbs, a 1L hockey bottle with electrolytes (0 carbs), 3 50g carb gels and about half a maxi bag of Haribos.
Felt strong all the way through and finished strong.
Must have been a long downhill with my 95 kilos Well done on today again !
