Workouts adjust based on new ftp

If I manually change my FTP will all future workouts immediately and automatically adjust to reflect that?

Day 0 - I set up TR workout plan etc, manually set my FTP at 249 (I thought that’s what it was in zwift where I ride a lot)

Day 1 - did first TR generated workout (in zwift); looked at my zwift profile and realised my FTP was 244 (5 watts lower than I had misremembered).

Day 2 onwards… will the workout plan reflect the slightly lower FTP?

Yes.

All workouts are structured as percentages of FTP so if you change FTP the power targets will adjust instantly.

One further thing to consider though is that as part of adaptive training the workouts sometimes also adapt to different workouts after a significant change in FTP - this is to keep the progression of your training manageable.

It’s likely that such a small change won’t cause this though.

Thanks - will I be told when that has happened?

I noticed something similar when I replaced a workout scheduled for today with a slightly longer one (went from 30 mins endurance to 45 mins endurance). TR suggested “adaptations” … which I accepted and it reverted the workout back to the original 30 minute one. I did it again and skipped the suggestion… at which point the 45 min workout stayed in place.

On that note … are there any tutorials on how all of this works? Thanks.

It’s a good idea to keep your Zwift FTP in sync with what’s set in TR, but just know that either way, you’ll be doing the right workout in Zwift.

TR pushes the workout to Zwift based on your FTP in TR. The only difference is that the color of each interval block will be based on your FTP in Zwift, so if there is a major discrepancy between the two, you’ll notice that the colors don’t line up with the work you’re doing. That’s all, though.

In terms of your adaptations, we’ll always make recommendations as to what we recommend with your training plan. We suggest following along, but, of course, the final decision for what you’re going to do is in your hands. :raising_hands:
