With new AI Version (Jan 2026) I don't seem to be able to skip base phase anymore

Hi,

Just recently re-subscribed and think i have good base , have been doing 6-700 TSS for months mainly endurance, FTP around 280.

I built plan for Fondo event on 11th April and has base phase of 6 weeks , that I want to skip . Or is this considered bad idea now ?

cheers,

Andy.

There used to be workaround with backdating AI generated plan (i.e. today minus 3 months of base period). Not sure if it still works but its something you can try.

thanks Svens for the reply - i see its been marked “Trainer Road Approved” .

Tried it but it seems to have given what looks like quite a tame , mainly Z2 Build phase as per attached. My A event is 11th April , with a B and a C event in March .

I have done decent amount of work in last 3 months , Mainly Endurance 6-700 TSS a month , but with random Zwift stuff and some Threshold / Vo2 workouts (2-3 a week)

I would have expected to see more Threshold in Build Phase

Maybe i should trust it / get on with it !

Are you on a masters plan? If so, it seems correct as you have two hard days per week with your Tuesday VO2 and Saturday Zwift race.

Yes, what @Torneng said. If you want more intense plan, you can switch to 3 hard says and/or tweak your training balance toward aggressive approach (as a whole or per zone).

thanks and @Toreng . It had defaulted to masters plan / 2 hard , i think cos i am an oldish git !

Changed to 3 days and got attached which looks better i think - the proof is in the puking !

cheers

Andy.

Can you explain how to backdated the start of a plan as I have the same problem.

When creating new plan with Plan Builder, use some past date for start.
For example, use today minus 3 months to skip whole base period. Adjust for how much you actually want to skip.

I came across this old post with the same issue. For what it’s worth, when I backdated the AI plan, it just moved it to start ‘today’ anyway – it ignored the backdating. So…I’m wondering whether this isn’t working anymore?

Any time you update a plan it does display in the calendar the start date as the date you made the change, presumably so you can track when you make amendments.

If you look at the structure of the plan and the phases, they should be based on the amended (or original if you don’t change it) start date.
