Why did AI FTP Prediction go down?

Hi,

I just changed my account to public so you can see it here. Here’s what happened recently:

  • AI FTP detection on 04/03 bumped me to 261W.
  • At the point of my detection on 04/03. AI FTP prediction for 05/01 indicated 270W.
  • My training plan scheduled a Sweet Spot ride on 04/04 and an Endurance ride on 04/05.
  • I did a casual social ride on 04/04. To accomodate, I moved the scheduled Sweet Spot ride to Sunday as I didn’t want to miss an interval session. As such I ended up skipping the originally scheduled Endurance ride.
  • AI FTP Prediction now indicates no change for 05/01 – 261W.

My simple question is why? I skipped the Endurance ride, but it’s not like I didn’t ride at all. Why did AI FTP prediction change so much for such a small change?

I’d be happy to dig into your account a bit and let you know what I find. Can I share all of that here?

Yes!

Your last 5 days before your AIFTP Prediction have no training in. That’s not gonna help!

Actually that’s a great point. I was going to schedule a new training plan but haven’t gotten around to it yet. But my point still stands that it used to show a predicated FTP of 270W and now back down to 261W replacing an 90min endurance ride with a 120min recovery ride.

Hey @bogardon

I feel @Helvellyn is right on the money here. I feel like it has more to do with not having workouts on the last week of the detection. I’d be keen to see what happens when you add a new training plan!

I also noticed that you schedule training plans 3 months at a time. You have the option to schedule longer ones if you want

I ended up getting sick and had to cancel two rides, one interval and one endurance. curiously my ai ftp prediction stayed at 261W!

yes but the lack of new training plan was also the case when it showed me 270W last week.

i did end up adding a new training plan, but due to circumstances i had to add it a couple weeks after the end of my current one :frowning:
