Who else is excited for GCN+?

I just default to the UK since that is where they are based. Always works, never had an issue.

Dunno which is “best”, though….if there is a best.

I’m not recommending this particular company, but here is what NordVPN says

I guess this would be useful if you wanted to watch on a device that does not support a VPN client, like a smart TV.

Since you really only want the VPN for obscuring geolocation, I would not run other data (like a Zoom call) through the VPN. The performance will probably take a hit.

They have more than just the router option; up to 6 devices connected concurrently. My iPhone has the app installed, for when I’m not at home and I might want to watch an important race.

The router must be on their “suggested list”, as it requires OpenVPN Client to work. I have an Asus.

This then means your entire network, and any device connected to it, is on the VPN, instead of limiting 6 devices individually.

There is no performance issue on my side.

I have a VPN for work, which allows me to login remotely to our company network. GCN doesn’t work on my work laptop if there is a geolock on the specific race.

Yup, I’m having the same experience. I’ve tried multiple servers, plus multihop from one country to another, no luck.

I’ve been using Nord without any issues. [edit] Just checked and still no problems connecting to restricted content using UK server. Note: I do use the system VPN settings rather than the Nord app. Don’t know if that makes any difference.

Go to https://www.dnsleaktest.com and perform the standard test.

If it detects your own IP address, then your VPN is not working as it should. Enable your VPN and choose a another country that won’t have the geo-lock on an event. Your DNS leak test should show the country you’re “virtually in” and not your IP address.

Hmm the DNS test shows my vpn server location and IP, so maybe GCN is just blocking any known IPs associated with Surfshark :man_shrugging:t5:.

I was reading a few reviews on your VPN provider, and it might be the lower number of servers that makes it easy for GCN to pick up.

But not here in the US; I’m pretty sure FloSports has the rights to UCI Cyclocross here.

No, its showing on US gcn for sure

I subscribe to both GCN+ and FloSports and agree that it does show up on GCN+'s schedule, but I think they are limited to only broadcasting to Canada due to FloSport’s rights. Possibly like in past years with the TdF, where NBC has the US rights but someone else (FloSports/GCN+) has Canadian rights and it wasn’t obvious until you tried to watch.

I’d love to be wrong as I prefer GCN, but I’ve only been able to watch UCI CX races on FloSports this year. I guess we’ll find out later this week.

The deal FLO had with the UCI was for 2021, not 2022. GCN+ has the CX Worlds for the US this year, FLO has it for Canada.

I stand corrected; thanks for providing the correct info. One more reason to let my FloSports subscription expire next week.

If only GCN could get the Flanders Classics distribution rights here in the USA…

If only GCN could get the Flanders Classics distribution rights (worldwide)… then we would have to resort to using VPNs.

“Limited time offer available until 31/01/2022. Access to an Annual GCN+ pass for an upfront payment at the reduced price of $37.49. Full standard price $49.99. Automatically renews each year at the then standard annual price unless cancelled prior to renewal. A minimum term of 12 months applies in the first year from the date of payment and in each renewal year. All prices exclusive of taxes. Not available to existing subscribers. Only available to Experience Fayetteville members resident in the U.S.”

So in theory then, to save $12.50, I could just subscribe under a new account, and that would start a week before my original subscription ends. Will see if I get time before the deal runs out. Thanks for posting.

Tested a bit this afternoon, and found that no Surfshark servers work with the app, but a lot of Mullvad ones do. It also still doesn’t matter how good the connection is to the vpn; you can start streaming with the vpn on, then disable it and watch at your normal bitrate.

Working fine for me with NordVPN. Ladies on lap 2 at the time of the screenshot.

So, another year and another year of races not being visible when they should. I can’t get the highlights for Tour of Oman Stage 2. I’m reminded of the phrase “tape delayed”. Maybe it will come up tomorrow.
