Who else is excited for GCN+?

I like their commentators and coverage better than anything else I can get in the states, so the extra (small) cost of a VPN was worth it to me.

I cancelled my re-subscription as the service was simly terrible!

EVERY time I tried to login I had issues - either it said I had no subscription and wouldnt show content, or simply wouldnt allow me to log in at all. Nothing would resolve it and I wasted more tme trying to log in than I ever did watching it. Very frustrating and support was no use at all. Same happened on all my devices.

I enjoy much of their content but not enough to pay to experience all these issues continually I’m afraid.

Will probably re-sub when it comes up for me in May at the $50. The films alone are cool and while I don’t watch crazy races I do watch enough to justify it. I however only pay for discovery+ monthly and have ota cable so $0 for that.

Actually got my VPN working on the amazon fire stick 4K and GCN+ working in the background. Watching Aussie road nationals, it would have a few stalls. I’ll have to try watching something live. Could be my wifi though.

All in all though, looks like I can watch Giro, TdF, Vuelta, Roubaix, and then whatever else catches my eye in 2022.

As a GCN+ and Eurosport subscriber I can’t find any reason to use the GCN+ app for race coverage over the Eurosport one:

  • The app UI is awful, navigation and finding what you actually want to watch isn’t as intuitive.
  • It loads to the Top News page every time you open the app which often means if you’re looking to watch highlights of a race you’ll see the result on the Top News page before you actually get to switch to Race TV and watch the highlights - frustrating!
  • The app itself crashes/hangs regularly, especially when being used to Airplay to AppleTV.

The only positive GCN+ has going for it is the additional GCN content/longer features.

We have one satellite TV/sport broadcaster in RSA that has the rights (a monopoly) for just about every sport event happening globally. The annual GCN+ subscription plus a VPN subscription is less than the monthly subscription to the monopoly.

With a VPN on my router, every device connected is behind the VPN. Makes it easier to connect on any device. Currently have it defaulted to the UK, but can change it if there’s any geo-location problems.

Settings on my ISP router is locked by them, so the second router helps. I only use the local connection for Netflix and Amazon Prime.

So GCN+ plus works for me, extremely well. No adverts too.

One reason might be the lack of ad breaks (if you still get them on Eurosports). But I quite liked them sometimes, it forced me to take a break from the screen and go away and make a cup of tea :joy:

If the ad breaks are timed right, yes, the break from watching is good.

On a number of occasions, when I had a SatTV subscription, they would go for a 2-min break with 4Km to go on a sprint stage. By the time they come back, the winner is walking off the podium (slight exaggeration).

Good point - I guess I very rarely watch live (having a big boy job and all that)

I am watching GCN+ with VPN in the US coming up on a year soon. Since about a week I get a GeoRestrict error despite the VPN being active and I haven’t found a solution yet. Which VPN provider do you all use?
If I log all devices out of GCN and activate the VPN prior to login it doesn’t let me login at all.
Anybody else experiencing similar issues? Content which is open for the US can be watched without issues.
Until the issues started I could watch all content.

I have been using Mozilla VPN. It worked last weekend for me, but I have not tried it since the last CX world cup.

Using NordVPN, with no problems.

Speedify

I use surfshark and it worked great until a week or two ago, now, no matter what i try (ipad or a computer with multiple different browsers) , GCN knows im in the US.

The vpn masks your IP address, so I think what’s happening is they get info that the IP from that particular VPN is a VPN and block it. My VPN has like 100 different countries with many different Locations per country. Try a bunch of different ones. I had a similar experience to what you describe last night and eventually got one to work

Besides the UK US, Canada and Australia, Anyone know of other countries that will have English speaking commentary for races?

Same for me. I tried many different Surfshark servers- no luck.

Just tried Speedify, it worked flawlessly.

Has anyone worked out which country it is best to set the VPN to to get the most (or all?) the races? Is UK the one, or is there some other country that has the best stuff?

Can you tell me a little about how this works?

I’m on a VPN where I run an app on my pc, MacBook or amazon fire stick. So far, they’re working great, but I could see setting up a whole house VPN as a great option, provided its fast enough for work zoom calls.
