Keeping with my Train Now Wednesday strategy I fired up TN at lunch to select tonight’s workout. I refreshed it a few times to get something that I liked the look of. I settled on Colosseum-3.
Due to a work commitment I was not able to do my planned TR session in the morning, so I did it after work.
Much better than last week. Still tough but felt in control.
Also, having fun with my wife’s Cricut. We bought her a gravel bike last week heavily discounted because it has a sizable bit of paint missing. Covered that up, and put on a headtube decal:
Geiger Sweetspot 4.5
Had several sensor drop outs, does make you lose focus, very annoying, TR would report 3 devices, then drop to 1 then back to 2 then 3… then lose them all. Restarted app, no difference. Both ANT+ sticks next to each other and Zwift had no issues. It did settle down in last interval. Find this happens every couple of months with TR, nothing yet found. Just plain annoying.
Anyway marked as hard as I threw in 10% for last interval, just to stop the boredom of another easy interval and enjoy passing others on Zwift ![]()
Bruin
Virtual hill repeats. Plus one more for good measure. It’s amazing what a recovery spin (yesterday) will do for the legs!
Thursday Train Now Endurance ride: Heseman.
This week, it has been difficult to stay on track with my early morning workouts in TR due to work/life stress. Today, I started a little later than I should have and selected a workout that was a little longer than it should have been. But I thought I would treat myself. Looking forward to the weekend and hope to be back “on track” next week.
I’m at the point where a Sweet Spot workout feels like a gift. Wasn’t that hard but it wasn’t that easy either - was happy to get that last bugger of interval done. 2 more workouts before a rest week.
Bear Creek (PL 4.8)
Tunemah (PL 4.8, 1.5 hours) was originally scheduled for this morning, but I was time-crunched and had to select a shorter alternative. I selected Bear Creek (PL 4.8, 1.0 hour), which has the same 3x12 over-under intervals, but with shorter recovery period in between (5 minutes versus 10 minutes). So, I guess it was about the same amount of work, although maybe the longer recovery valleys would have made the last interval feel less taxing. In any event, it was a good workout!
base camp continues: a lot of tram climb! (and a few sections going too hard) ![]()
Yesterday
Lift after: clean, squat, bench, RDL, seated barbell military press
Today
Legs a bit toasted from yesterday. Gotta get my strength back.
Anaerobic 3.9
I’m ok with short stuff. I hope this will help towards other workouts with 2min above FTP.
Tried to do about 6 hours in zone 2 outside, but backed off a little when HR creeped into Zone 3. I suppose if I keep doing these my HR will not keep going up like it does.
