Did 3x20 at Threshold, I only managed the 2 first one at exactly, had to take a Toilet break after the second, my stomach wasn’t to good. Still managed 302W on the last one, really struggled, funily enough it got better again in the last 5 minutes, added 30 minutes of high Z2 at the end. Not to bad considering it was still hot in the cellar and I was basically a sweaty mess and leaving a huge puddle…
Completed McAdie +1 this morning. Had genuine workout anxiety beforehand but fuelled appropriately and managed to get through it with a little left in the tank. There was some air-punching and cries of “f**k yeah!” after finishing the last interval. Love that feeling when you make it through a workout you’d been dreading!
Last week and a half of my rides - last week of specialty and then last week and this weeks taper. I’ve been strong throughout and enjoyed the brief vo2 max efforts and full on efforts on my gravel group ride last week. Wondering how I’ll feel this weekend as I’ll decide on doing a mock - A event as my schedule permits.
I did “Leatherman” which is 4 4-minute intervals. They were supposed to be at 113% but it looks like they ended up at 111-112 percent. Felt fairly easy, all things considered. HR got up where it was supposed to be. Got a new and improved vo2 number from Garmin. This was a ‘train now’ workout replacing an easier one that was on my plan which was the beginning of a taper that I will probably ignore. The AI seems to be good at picking appropriate workouts for me.
5 min strength + sprints
More low cadence work, and some sprints after a bit of endurance. This was tough after threshold yesterday and VO2 on Monday. Solid three-day block, though, and I’m ready for a rest day. Finally feeling better on the bike (consistency from no work travel this week certainly helps).
An outdoors workout on an 8 minute, 2% hill (Raymond +6):
My compliance for being in the right zone was about 50% of the interval; I was generally under the 108% target. Regardless, AI gave me a 3 point bump in that VO2 workout level. I took it, but haven’t had chance to attempt a followup workout yet at the new level.
Interesting that if I’d associated it with Tinker -1 (105%), i would have received ZERO VO2 increase, something seems off here…
