What workout did you do today? (2021, part 2)

I guess a bit of both. I did 82min at nominally 93% and it was pretty cruisy.

ETA - I’ve just googled what SS HR should be, and blow me down the first result says 75-85%. Kolie Moore also confirmed that that’s actually how training is supposed to feel

I do actually think I’ve found a more accurate FTP. Now what the best method of Progression and what number to train at are separate questions.

I have five more weeks specialty (which will be very disrupted due to summer school holidays etc etc) then a build to a couple of B-Races.

I can see the real value here, I just have to work out how best to marry high PL, accurate FTP training with the TR Plans (which I very much enjoy). Will I continue to be able to push things up.

I think so. I’m only one week into Specialty so I shouldn’t get ahead of myself either, it might just have been a couple of good rides.

My 200th ride of the year :metal::rocket::blush:

That’s awesome :sunglasses: :clap:t2:

Oof, that was quite tough. This was an alternate to the original scheduled workout which was the exact same except 105% instead of 104%.

I put “Very Hard” as the response, no downward adaptations yet, but I might manually select some as the next couple look pretty tough.

Didn’t nail all three at Target power, but I was pleased to knock it out (the last one was definitely really tough, but not quite as bad as the drops make it look, I had to stop pedalling a few times to reach my phone as it’s playing up with BT and has to sit out of reach to connect to the stereo).

Still feels like forward progress after last week’s TSS.

Boarstone -1

Easy Z2 spin after Disaster -1 yesterday. HRM battery died during the last ten minutes.

FreeRide75

Just the hour riding with the Zwift pace partner B.Brevet… was a good orbit/lap which included the volcano climb, enjoyed.

Took to the front for the last 5 minutes…

Ramp test at the start of SSB2. my levels are below pedestrian now but I’ll take an 8% gain from SSB1.

Can’t wait for group workouts to work better beyond ramp tests

Monitor - Indoor. Just a TR noob trying to get back to where I was in the summer and move forward.

holy moly 3x20 @ 104%?! What are you using to fuel that kind of effort? It’s hard for me to comprehend that’s a doable workout with a good FTP. Well done, looks like you were picking it up at the end too.

Today I had a bit of a recovery day. Strength training didn’t fatigue my legs too much, and an easy 35 minute jog with my doggo. Recovery day; gonna really try to dig a deep hole this week since I won’t be doing much training between the 20th and new years.

Strength:
5 minutes rowing to warm up
3x[8x80lb KB swing // deep squat stretch]
3x[5x155lb front squat // 30s front and side planks]
3x[8x70lb tall kneeling shoulder press // 8x90lb chest supported DB row]
3x[6x50lb Single leg RDL // 5xAnkle-To-Bar]

Sprintervals

4 x [4 x 15/15] @ 140%

Legs were still sore from lifting yesterday. Finally felt good by the third set. Added on some endurance at the end because I won’t be able to do tomorrow’s Z2 ride.

At the moment it’s the following:

1 GU Roctane gel (21g carb)
1L bottle with High5 (90g carb)
700mL bottle with either GU Roctane or some other carb mix (60g carb)

I consume more of the same during the endurance stuff too, though usually throw in other sugar options to High5 as it’s a bit tougher to mix.

I’m experimenting with upping concentration of my bottles but not every session.

Wasn’t my best work but reasonably happy all things considered.

Covid Booster yesterday led to a terrible sleep last night. Possibly should have switched my SS ride from Friday with this one but I quite like when my workouts get easier throughout the week.

Tempo (I think, I don’t ride there much and don’t remember the “tempo” target off the top of my head) felt pretty easy so that’s something.

Hard on heartrate but easy on the legs!

Just getting back to a legit training plan after a clavicle break and surgery. This was my first vo2 workout since the accident.

This is one day after the booster vaccine. 20 mins x 3 intervals @282W and i am hungry for more:)

Grassy Ridge -2 last night.

I haven’t done VO2Max for ages and AT kept recommending an adaptation to drop this workout in favour of an easier one.

Decided to not accept the adaptation and see how I got on.

Was tough but not anywhere as bad as expected. Rated the feeling as ‘Moderate’ afterwards.

My legs are SUPER sore today, worse than they have been doing all the sweetspot and threshold work I’ve had over the last couple of months. :grimacing:

Gardiner-2. This was murder. Don’t know how I got through it, and had to drop the % a tad.
