What workout did you do today? (2021, part 2)

Freeride 45

Grabbed some quick time on the trainer, one lap on, one lap off…some volcano orbits using resistance, 37%,39%,36%

Grabbed number one spot with first and second orbits…

Then promptly knocked off with someone doing a 5:11 lap… viewed them when they came past me later on and they were doing 3/wg with 100w…! Their picture on Zwift companion showed a 30 year old body builder! Must have been using the weight of one of his arms

Baird -2. My first VO2max workout since being off the bike for a few weeks for travel. Had to backspin a few times to get a little more recovery, but I finished so that was a win.

Redondo -4 this evening.

Leg muscles still felt a little tight above my knees from the VO2 work on Tuesday.

Overall was tough but doable. Feels like I’m making at least some small measure of progress.

No Chain

I decided early on that I was going to ride through as I had good legs. Then I figured I’d go for the 120min.

My legs were heavy but it felt easy which felt awesome. I calibrated the trainer four times throughout lol.

120g/hr for the 120min

Saddleback (bail)

This is a custom 90-minute workout with 75 minutes of endurance riding at 70-75%. My legs are cooked from weight lifting. I was doing fine at 70% but the 75% put me over the edge, then work started calling, too. So I pulled the plug.

Here are my notes for the session.

Lots of fatigue in the legs due to lifting Strength 2 early yesterday (TDY), doing extra sets, and only three hours of sleep.

That’s an awesome effort- well done :+1:t2: :muscle:t2:

Say hello to Norman Clyde +4
I really love threshold rides and yeah HRM is driving me crazy

Wednesday Z2 starting to feel comfortable, but need to prepare something to pass the time.

Today’s SS with warm up and second interval feeling good, third ok and fourth taking bets if the calves would seize up.

I’ve got my booster on Sunday so seeing this is reassuring! hopefully I’ll be good to work out the next day, or at worst the day after that.

haha, every vaccine had a different impact on me but the first one (Astra Zeneca) was a real killer. I had to stop almost a week completely. Last one was Moderna and yes, increased RHR a little etc but i didnt care. seems like we will get vaccinated almost every 3-4 months, i cannot stop one week for each.

Did Kashmir, was meant to do Truchas-1 but swapped it out as I felt a bit tired and rough this morning. This is much more like a natural trail, the three sprints are like surprise efforts - you turn a corner and there’s a couple of steps to climb or a short steep ramp.

Gave it “Hard” in the survey response and got an adaptation for the workout I should have done, from Truchas-1 to Truchas. Not going to do it - the wine is open!

Another good one. Gives me some confidence the engine is, in fact, building.

Six weeks until my A-Race. Consistent training will be the challenge now.

I got my booster on Wednesday morning.

I swam on Wednesday afternoon, replaced my scheduled VO2 Max session with a spin outside on my fixie on Thursday, and then completed Avalanche Spire -2 (Threshold workout) + a swim on Friday.

I think all of the sessions being relatively low intensity helped, but no negative experiences here :ok_hand:

Warlow +2 this morning. Ouch. Genuine feeling of accomplishment in completing that today after a stressful week at work. Time to rest and recover now :sunglasses:

Ochoco

2 1/2 hours of Z2. Not sure why AT thinks this is a stretch since I did Disaster -1 (3:20) last week. Anyway, much better than my bail on Thursday.

AT is probably quite happy pretending Disaster is an imaginary friend.

Good work on both :+1:.

I’ve had that too I think its just directly comparing against your Endurance PL’s. Compared to that it is a stretch, compared to Disaster -1 its a breeze :muscle: :+1:

I almost marked Ochoco as Easy but ultimately went with the five-year-old’s suggestion of Moderate. He loves filling out the surveys for me.

Did a gym workout yesterday that focused on rotational stability and deadlift power; then Torbert in the evening. Definitely a fun one, 90% is a little uncomfortable but the 30” sprints on the front definitely made it spicy.

Torbert

Then today, 16xBillats on the track. 5mi run total. This evening an aerobic ride! About to go to vail to snowboard for 7 days, and a military training exercise for 20 days… so trying to dig a really deep aerobic fitness hole on the front end. I’m getting a late start to training for the race season so hopefully this dampens the damage a bit.
