After a solid ramp test. At 4.5 W/kg and feeling I’m reaching a plateau. Currently on low volume, and this block is the first time I’ve gotten to specialty phase. Planning on trying to stick it out (though V02 is proving to be brutal for me ) ideas welcomed…
I thought Old Rag +3 was extremely hard, too — Like the hardest thing ever. Actually, I finished XCO MV weeks ago and I still am not ready to restart a plan. Kicked my butt.
That’s SSB 1&2 wrapped up for me. Unless the weekend is bad and I opt to do Wright Peak.
This felt good. HR bang in zone, nice and steady cadence and the workout was over in no time. Now for my recovery week, a ‘challenge’ ride next Saturday and then I’m going to give myself two weeks to play with TrainNow. Fancy trying a few of the new workouts
During last vo2 block my second week felt way better so maybe this is also the case? Your legs accustomed to the specificity. My breathing was also better during second week and I put more power.
Kern +2 yesterday afternoon. Again, I was a little scared beforehand as I hate and struggle with vo2max. Warm-up felt terrible as always, same durinfg first mainset I was almost giving in. But then i warmed and the workout gone through with good form.
add some extra z2
Nice way to start the day. Strength training up later. Usually do it the other way around, but after a horrible night’s sleep I figured that this would be easier to cope with. Didn’t bother with the HRM as my Bluetooth one has been acting up and I wanted to see what the new android app was like .
Geiger +2
Did the first week of SSBMV2 in 4 consecutive days (Z2 ride removed). So Ebbetts, Kaweah and Geiger +2 in a row (after my usual pitiful ramp test, I only do it for compliance, I ignore the results anyway). Ouch. Got through it all nonetheless. Rain through the weekend, so the usual ski + hike/snowshoe/XC couple of days are not looking good. Back on the grind next Monday.
Townsend again for me this morning - keeping things ticking over nicely. Looks like its goign to be a bit windy here in the UK this weekend so it appears I will be doing both Leconte and Wright Peak -1 to close out SSBMV2 for the second time and not swap out the Sunday workout for an outside ride like I have been for the last few weeks…
Took the day off on Wednesday to go skiing, so I moved that day’s workout to today, which would normally be a rest day. Felt pretty good, but I did lose focus on the 6th of 7 intervals, so I had to rally myself.
Got a tickr for hr to make sure my easy rides are easy and hard rides are hard, haven’t used one in 9 years.
Made this WMax/MAP workout. After warmup, started at 200w and increased by 25w per minute until exhaustion (roughly the protocol I saw in Ronnestad 2020 paper).
378w was max 1 min and max hr was 191 (I’m 31).
Planning to keep easy rides around 70% max HR and shoot for 90-100% WMax/MAP in 40/20 interval sessions.
3rd time doing this bad boy. I’ve been in a bit of a slump with poor legs and general anxiety etc. Crappy performance doesn’t help the mind much in a pandemic where there’s not much else to focus your energy on.
With ok-ish sensations doing 1x90 on Thursday and getting through this one, I’m hoping I’m now starting to turn the corner somewhat
