What workout did you do today? (2020, part 2)

Geiger +2 just like @JMT. Kicked my ass pretty good. I drank too much beer last night and felt like crap this morning. Almost considered skipping the workout. Felt good to finish without any issues though.

But you finished! And your compliance numbers are better than mine

Took yesterday off to celebrate my wedding anniversary. Drank a touch too much red wine and ate some very non cycling specific foods last night :+1::grin:

Didn’t feel great this morning but I figured an endurance session was in order. The first 15 minutes were dreadful :joy:

I have been having some palpitations (at rest, and no other symptoms) so had an ecg yesterday. It was ok, so even turned Lamarck up a bit at the end. Could have done more - this is a 3-year PR over 30m-60m on my power curve. I had struggled a bit on Tuesday with Spencer +2; maybe because I was avoiding caffeine to see if that would help with the symptoms - it didn’t.

Just Leconte and Wright Peak -1 between me and recovery week now.

I think fatigue can increase palpitations.
I still get them, but less frequently since I gave up coffee and Sustained Power Build.

Not much to report - Back to doing long-haul SS intervals.

Forbidden Peak outdoors. Last outdoor ride for a while. Looking forward to ramp test Monday.

2 x 30 @ 97%…
This one came a bit soon after yesterday’s hour @ 95%. Fatigue made it feel like FTP throughout, rather than sub-threshold.

Still, that’s 3 weeks of 3 threshold workouts per week. Built up to 195 mins of TiZ this week and it’s only Friday. Tomorrow will be some nice Z2 if I can get out of bed, and then a recovery week!

Seriously impressive workout, fair play :facepunch:.

Tried Mount Foraker +1 again and had a similar outcome to last week. Broke at the same moment as last week but this time kept the work at 100% through the rest of the workout (dropped it 5% last week). So I’ve made progress.

That said, breaking at the same moment two weeks in a row has me wondering if this is just my current limitation for supra threshold work. Isn’t there a metric for something like this? Feels like as soon as I hit 188-189 bpm in the third interval, I cannot reach back up to it again on the following Intervals at all. It is as if the matches aren’t there. Each of those backpedal breaks in the fourth and fifth interval occured after about 30 seconds at 180 bpm and I legit couldn’t push again without some rest to drop the heart rate down.

I suppose next week is a recovery week, so perhaps I just need that rest now? Should I go after the final workout in this block (Wolfjaw +3) on Sunday or just do Baxter instead and start rest week earlier?

Someday,
I’ll be,
Livin’ in a big old city . . .

Kaweah for me tonight, spent less than 9% in threshold HR so hopefully my FTP is about right.
I’m actually looking forward to the harder workouts this time round.

Thank you @ellotheth! It’s just my low FTP / wattage floor but just the same, I love the encouragement! Thanks

Needed something kinda easier today so I will have some legs left for trail rides this weekend. One of the athletes here mentioned Beehive and Boarstone earlier this week, so I decided on Boarstone with the short sprints at the end. It was just right!

Inside all daze, smoke taste in my mouth days.

Another spin in the garage.

Carson +1

Started SSB LV I last week after a summer of no structured riding. I bumped up my FTP 10 watts from last ramp test based on intervals.icu data, and SS has been pretty tough so far but felt good today, started to get back in the groove. I’ve been strength training again too and legs felt good after yesterday’s squat session. Excited to see what my fitness looks like next season!

Petit. Easy peasy. Probably need to increase intensity next time but good recovery ride I guess.

Petit is supposed to be easy. What makes you say it was too easy?

Roan High +2 - Last workout in LV Climbing Road Race before the mid-plan recovery week (thank goodness). Struggled mentally about halfway through and needed to take a 30 sec break. Got over it, and grinded through the rest with a lowish cadence which actually felt like going up a climb.

Darwin 4x10. Went off how Mary Austin felt the other day and nudged it %5. It was tough but very doable. Just kept telling myself it was easy :upside_down_face:
