What workout did you do today? (2020, part 2)

Jepson for me tonight. The trainer ERG seemed to miss a few of the 5seconds sprints

I tried some of SiS menthol turbo drink tonight also and it seemed to let me recover more consistently (to sub 69% MHR) between intervals and overall there’s less cardiac drift :+1:

Scylla

Crushing the threshold work at the moment. First interval was pretty rough - legs tired after yesterday’s VO2 run but legs came good after that. Enjoying build, but early days yet .

Lion Rock the ramps at the end killed my knees the rest of it wasn’t too bad.

Just putzed around Watopia for a half hour in resistance mode. Followed it up with a super laid back 30ish run off the bike. Feeling fresh as f**k for 18’ over-unders tomorrow morning

Nunburnholme. Didn’t do the best at nailing the power numbers on this (off by as much at 4 watts for some intervals), but managed to complete it first thing in the morning about 20 minutes after I woke up. Totally next experience for me. Had a lot going on at work throughout the day and plans blocking out my night/evening, so morning was the only option. Totally surprised myself with this one because it was a totally new ride time and experience. Not to mention, I didn’t have coffee until I got back, so I was without caffeine for this whole workout, yet another surprise.

Monitor for me today. Did well, but suffered a signal loss within TR from ~32 mins to ~43:

Tried to fix it and ending up saving the workout, closing and restarting the app (PC, Win10, latest update), then reloading the workout and continuing. Was very pleased that fixed it, I htought when I saved the workout that might be the end of it, but I was able to continue, admittedly with a little data loss.

In other news, I did much better than this time last week, I’m getting back into cycling shape!

Standing start full gas 4x15 sec intervals. Finish strong and completely depleted. Slow rolled home.

Easy gym yesterday, Fletcher up for me tonight. Tomorrow it will be a rest day, and on Sunday I’ll have the Ramp Test + Taku to start the new plan preparing for the season 2021.

Yesterday I received some pretty bad but not entirely unexpected news about my current employment status. Needless to say, I had a mixed day and night.

Didn’t feel mentally up to Full Strength Palisade but I wanted the workout to hurt, just a little. So I opted for the -1 version. I wasn’t 100% mentally committed and my power was all over the place in some sections but, the burn was there :+1:

Onwards!

Just one more hard workout (McAdie+1) before winding down for rest week.

Happy with my efforts so far considering I’m dieting. As I do my workouts in the evening I need to keep a closer eye on my calorie intake as I ended yesterday with over 500 left, what a waste :pig:

Lion Rock, hacked some minutes out of the long rest intervals to make it shorter and because I can’t see the point of 10 whole minutes noodling between sets. New FTP feels about right given the main intervals here are only a smidgen below the old one but feel totally comfortable (well, almost).

5 hour drive back from weeks holiday yesterday followed up by signing up to TR annual sub and Pettit +1 To remind myself what it feels like to ride a bike.

Considering a 30 min v02 today to remind heart rate that laying on a beach is not the norm. May try Matterhorn followed by easy spin.

Hunter-4 + 15 min Tempo in the end . Start of some Sweet spot focus the next 6 weeks !

Fang Mountain +1 ended this week so now it hurts to walk in stairs… Earlier this week I had Baird +2 and Spanish Needle -3. Next week is a rest week!

Second workout in 2 days after a month off. Predictably, worse than the first and a real struggle even though the efforts were shorter. 2 days in a row with NP at +12 over actual. Don’t recall going close to 190HR, let alone over it, in a long time. Jeebuz.

Galena +1 outdoors. I’m away from my trainer for a while but have my fondo bike. The route I ride on has some rollers so it’s hard to hit the power targets.

I also ran Zwift on the phone and knocked out the last MAAP tour segment and got the Rising Empire route badge for my route hunter project, so all in all a good start to the day.

Carpathian Peak +2 - penultimate workout in the over/under progression. Next Friday - Carpathian Peak +3 (3x20 minute :face_vomiting:)

FreeRide 75 Around Innsbruck

Some sprints after some quick ramps, some low cadence work, and generally noodling around…

Bit of endurance to kick of new training block, getting into the structured swing again. Decided to do sustained power build again. Onwards.

Hope it’s not too bad.
