What workout did you do today? (2020, part 2)

Time (again) got away from me today, so I stuck with the scheduled Taylor -2 instead of switching to regular Taylor. Ended up continuously cranking it up, ended up at 125% at the end, should have done that from the beginning.

Strava said my running has been kinda rubbish. It gave me a stress score of 5 for my 20 minute run yesterday. 5. Lol. Basically told me I wasted 20 minutes. :joy:But, I think every time we get up and try, it’s pretty darn good — especially if it’s like you putting out big watts on the rollers for even part of a workout— that is actually way super good.

Also @AndyBaggott can you pull a bottle from a cage to drink from it on the rollers? I still can’t. Almost fell over today trying. It’s like the sudden movement or something.

These threshold rides in sustained power build are no joke. No text with this one either so no encouragement from Coach Chad and no distracting drills … just the clock slowly ticking 9 minutes away.

Definitely not putting in my list of favorites

Recovery week vo2! It was a bit odd because during the workout it gave me a target of 204 but the breakdown post workout had the targets at 202. So it looks like I massively overshot.
Ready to Pettit away the rest of the week. Some of us triathlete types are doing a group Pettit on Saturday at 1300EST in case anyone is interested: RSVP - TrainerRoad

Givens. First workout I don’t complete since September - which is huge. Just couldn’t do 130% VO2max interval - maybe Disaster -2 and a 5 K this weekend is to blame. But the real fail was the second 120% when my rear derailleur hanger failed and snapped. Ugh! Now starts the warranty part…get parts…1 ft of snow predicted tomorrow night… Starting to look like the recovery week I should have had last week

@mikepstein Finally! Someone with a drive train that’s dirtier than mine.
That sucks! Not a great time of year to be chasing down spares.

I ended up doing Pettit instead of the prescribed Taku. That was quite nice after missing my recovery week rides all together.

Note to self. Don’t leave the Ant+ dongle next to a cold drink bottle in 80% humidity. :man_facepalming: Pay the stupid tax Rossy.

I did the same workout after work!

After the fourth interval the instructions mention to bump it up a few percentage points if I was feeling OK. I wasn’t. But I still felt the need to try bumping the workout by 2%. It doesn’t seem like much. I know.

Needless to say I put the workout back to 100% for the last interval.

You are incredibly steady with your power. Keep it up!

Carillon for me today:

Did well, not much to report.

Thanks! I did NOT bump the intensity 2% in fact, I dont think i could comprehend the instructions by that point.

Mills today. Last 2 intervals were tough to maintain precise power targets.

Dade +5

I absolutely suck when it comes to VO2 Max work (give me under/overs any day) so I was particularly dreading this one, especially as my previous VO2 Max workouts in SPBHV had resulted in my form and cadence going to shit. But no, despite getting that end of FTP test ā€œso I guess this is what drowning feels like?ā€ feeling for the last 30 sec of the 9th interval, managed to keep to power and cadence targets throughout so well chuffed with that! :star_struck:

Cardigan today. Had a few like this in TB2 and decicded to do the first intervals at descending cadences since going to 50s right away felt pretty bad

Man, feeling like drowning is 100% accurate to that feeling when you hit the point where you feel like you can’t take in any more oxygen no matter how hard or fast you breathe.

Man I’m bad at single leg drills. Those spike are usually me trying to switch legs, having the Erg mode kick up resistance, then me getting spinning again.

Weird, I extended the warm up but felt like the cool-down went short.

Ok so today I did 2 sets x 28min of O/U , 7 x (2min 95%, 2min 105%). Surprisingly, my HR didn’t go above LTHR that much. Standing up is crucial to clear the muscle pain.

Bashful +2 - Just getting in that one VO2max ride per week

TBH, I’ve never tried, but can imagine it’s quite a challenge due to the sudden movement as you suggested.
I drink from a wide mouthed bottle which sits on the table/launch platform at the side of my rollers.

Another Carson for me last night.
Dropped my FTP by 20 as I haven’t done any threshold or VO2 for a few weeks, but I’m encouraged that this workout felt easier than usual.
I’ll hold off committing to a plan until after Xmas and just mix in some higher TSS workouts.

I think it was my weight loss attempt that broke me, I’m sure I’ll need to commit to that after Xmas too :poultry_leg::birthday::wine_glass:, but I’m seriously considering seeing a dietician as all my previous attempts have ultimately stagnated and failed .

Ramp Test yesterday then Pierce today with my improved FTP.

Antelope +5 today with 30 mins extended1
