Budawang +3. That was brutal, losing my breath, hr at 169 - far in the red zone.
Didn’t finish the last interval, dropped target by 5% but still couldn’t make it. Hands and leg were shaking, hope it’s not some virus. Even favorite songs didn’t help. Waiting for weekend, let’s see how over under will feel
I feel another ramp test coming your way…lucky you ![]()
Good luck with new trainer, enjoy!
Yeah I’ve decided to forgo Chad’s plan and design my own. I’m calling it Do a Lot of Ramp Tests, and basically you just do ramp tests, forever. ![]()
That sounds like one of those looping nightmares, where the same things keep on happening over and over again as you powerlessly watch. Well, powerlessly may be the wrong word here.
Kaiser +2. Only one more workout left in this build block! I think this one is tougher than spencer.
Recovery week continues with Whorl. Kinda achey legs during, but nothing noticeable off the bike. Recovery weeks seem to last so long!
Pettit. Moving some workouts around this week. Felt fine, the majority has spoken, this workout is BORING.
Fully fasted, no problems. Happy for a boring workout, for what that’s worth!

Legs were a bit dead after last nights long session, but got into the groove.
Followed by a brick run (rTSS = 39)
This wasn’t too bad which I’m hoping means a decent bump in my FTP. If I had wore the glasses of hindsight I would have increased the intensity as coach Chad’s narrative suggests it’s a good indication of FTP.
Stromlo+1 today - made a decent job of it today after having to backspin last week. Finished but found it tough near the end…weird (as I tt) that I find these sustained super threshold intervals hard where as VO2 Tuesday was pretty easy…I still think that the ramp test over estimates my FTP as I really doubt I could average nearly 300W for an hour based on the fact that 4x8mins @304W was super tough. However 24 lots of a minute @ 357W was easy Tuesday…and I can cruise at 270 ish in SS for as many intervals as it takes me to get bored - I wonder if there is a hole in my power curve…if there is it isn’t where I want it to be considering I do a lot of 25 mile tt! ![]()
Monitor.
Felt a bit better on the throat and breathing than last time I was on the trainer. Either the drugs do work, or I was going to get better anyway.
pretty pumped about this. I did a hard week last week, about 6 and a half hours of tempo over the weekend, then three hard interval days this week.
This is more intensity than i would normally do but i have a travel-imposed break this weekend then a rest week, so I felt comfortable blocking these days.
And the result was, performance was juuuuuuust starting to soften as of today’s workout in terms of power:hr (although Whoop has been lecturing me hard). I leave tonight so timing is spot on.
First week of Build Phase. Just got an FTP bump and upgraded from low volume training to mid volume. Feeling good and excited for the increase in intensity.
After almost three weeks off the bike, I tried kickstarting my training with a variation of Bald Knob.

Topend definitifely suffered and heart rate was quite elevated and jumping around. I guess this is to be expected after such a long break with sickness in between. Missed three weeks of base period and rescheduled to start with the rest week in ssblv1. Had to delete my whole training plan and redo it with the planbuilder. I hope they are working on an easier solution to add in weeks into the existing training plan.
Tallac +3. Promised an upgrade from 5x12 to 5x15 today : ) That concludes my modified SSBI plan, 3 SS workouts and one Over-under in 5 days. Now recovery week : )

Donner for me today. Was tough and I had to fight throughout but I got through it. Motivated for a big weekend of training ahead!
