Well Stromlo +3 nailed. Still a little concerned, but onwards to the next test of Palisade on Friday… Made sure to fuel - bar on the way in, 60g bottle mix, carbs last night…
I don’t normally bother, but broadcast from 245 today! Noticed that during the workout, can only assume it’s hand/ wrist position working hard, versus relaxed (and I was sat right up doing work emails during several of the recoveries!).
Avalanche Spire +1. Harder than I had expected - it may be my brain playing tricks, but I felt I could really tell when I was passing through FTP on the way up, and back on the way down. That steady minute at 105% makes this a lot harder than Fang Mountain +1, even though TSS is similar. Higher HR than expected as well - that last set really felt like the last one I could deliver. Not sure how I can do Washington +4 next week (5x7min @ 105%) when I struggle to do 5x8min @95-105%. We’ll see next week I guess.
Another big Masters Swim practice yesterday. At this point they’re all “big” to me as i discover all my flaws lol.
Doing 1.5h of swimming 2-3 times / week will most likely have an awesome effect on my tri swim times. I hope i can keep it up so i can move up the ranks in my AG. Doing workouts with set times in the pool (like 4x 100m on 2:30)
On the bike, I’m thinking of doing the “5s, 1m and 5m” power test. It’s my recovery week and i’ll be doing a ramp test soon. So i’m thinking what the heck. My friends who are trying to peer pressure me into Zwift are always bragging about their shorter power numbers and i’ve got nothing to go on lol
Ramp test day early this morning. Finished Sprint Tri Build (1 of 4 weeks out sick with the flu). Did at 6 am, usually I tested later and only a banana. Bumped up the FTP to 190 from 184 (Virtual Power). I didnt feel as drained and looking at max HR and how I felt 30 minutes later, definetly could have pushed a little more - quite happy.
A little disappointed, after performing well in Mary Austin & Lamarck I was hoping for a bit more but at least it’s going in the right direction and build phase should be more manageable.
