Collins with extended 10min. cool down. Kept cadence higher than my usual (that’s something I’m hoping to increase over time). Felt great, good workout. It’s always great to start your day on the bike! ![]()
When reality kicks in after you get a nice 7 watt increase in FTP after a scheduled test half way through general build. Dade +1.
Williamson - actually managed to complete and even gave a little bump of 5% for the second to last interval - definitely benefited from a. good night’s sleep last night ![]()
That looks soooooo hard ![]()
Bashful - Volcano orbits
Nice leg burn/numbness on the final two intervals, added a little extra for middle set, think that was required to get right feeling in last set. Rest day tomorrow
Carpathian Peak +1. First threshold workout after FTP bump. Didn’t fuel properly, but workout was relatively easy and my HR surprisingly steady. Maybe this is because I have done some longer intervals recently so now 15 minutes O/U is not so hard.
Definitely agree to a point. My view is you want to be shelled but not TOO shelled; you want to be able to go again the next day (kinda like block periodization) even though you may not necessarily go again the next day. I like my hard workouts to be intimidatingly hard but where i still finish with something little bit left in the tank.
I try to remember that winning races is about the hundred or so hard workouts you did the year before, day-in and day-out, not the big, devastating, MEGA workouts that make you feel really good and accomplished but which make you sore for days.
Always have to give it some extra focus for the last 15mins or so on these longer session.
Followed with a short Recovery swim (sTSS = 14)
Just looked at the Williamson family of workouts - eek! They look tough.
Did Alle a week or two ago. As much as I dread going into these workouts, they’re great confidence builders. I seem to hit a point at like 30 or 60 min or 90 and just be like, “There’s no way I’ve got another 2hrs in my legs,” but the math always works out.
I planned a route to do this outside but looked out the window this morning and it was drizzling slightly so thought “f*ck that” and did it indoors. Sharing the indoor bike with my wife at the moment so had some saddle height issues for the first 30 mins or so but once I settled in I really enjoyed it ![]()
Insomnia last night for some reason. Felt hard. The cool down was where I finally woke up!
I’m enjoying this thread, boys. Keeping me motivated and accountable reading about your exploits. We’re got some legitimate cyclists in the TR family. I gotta step it up!

Another day, another ride to feed WKO model. It wanted 30-min at 211W and I did 226W for 31-min but I’ve been lazy on feeding the WKO model with long efforts so thats the reason for large gap. Wasn’t a max effort and felt sustainable to at least 40 or 50-min. Still feeling good with manual FTP setting, but I could bring it down a smidge.
