Got Mary Austin -1 coming today, still kinda tired from the prior weeks so really kinda dreading it, but will power through as much as I can and jump on an easy short ride if I have to bail early. I did have some greasy pizza for lunch so should be fueled well.
I finished off a fairly big week of training with 2x60min at the low end of SST then a quick tempo run in the PM with very fatigued legs. I get to sleep in and yoga in the afternoon tomorrow thankfully. Stick a fork in me coach. This bird is cooked.
Augusta and God damn that was hard, 3mins rest is just and I mean just enough, house had been cold all day so did the first 2 intervals with just the fan going had to open the window and get some new oxygen in my lungs for the second half. Nearly packed mid way through the final interval but held out and so did the legs!!
Andrews +1, still trying to come back from this cold:
There was some coughing in between the sprints, heh. Ramp tomorrow is gonna be an Experience.
Had Darwin Thursday and felt like crap. Had 2 beers last night, 2 eggs and a bagel this morning, another bagel in the early afternoon, 2 slices of pizza, and a yogurt for lunch, and killed it on Mary Austin -1 which I didnât expect to hang on for. Took down 1 SIS gel for the first 3 intervals, and one for the last 3 intervals. Drank water and Gatorade mix. All fueling done between intervals while pedaling, no pauses or back spins needed. Feel great
Taylor -3, I didnât fancy Kaweah as Iâve not trained since Tuesdayâs poor ramp test.
As well as the sickness, this may have had something to do with it:
Our cat being rescued late at night on Monday night after being missing since Friday⌠took me until Monday to find him up a huge tree. Late night by the time we got him down (with the help of a tree surgeon).
The mental intimidation was harder than the workout. But still, 2:45 on a trainer is a good bit of work. Feels like more than the TSS!
Mary Austin -1 for me today. Was pretty tough. Went trampolining with the family yesterday and got a bit over-competitive with the wife on the reaction tests so legs were a bit tired but made the full length. First time I have done it and deserves its reputation.
Last week of base 2 before a recovery week next (spencer, Lamarck and leconte!).
Wright peak -1, was going outside but my mates decided to do a gravel ride which I donât have a bike for so 2hrs SS it was. Last session before recovery weekâŚfelt ok so as the ride notes say for this workout maybe I can expect a FTP bumpâŚcurrently sitting at 295W - maybe I might get a result starting with a 3!..we can hope. Ramp test will be Fri/Sat depending on whether I fancy a weekend coffee ride to finish my recovery
SPB next - time trialling starts in about 2 months.
12% drop, or the last 8 months of training. Really disappointed. Donât get sick, kids.
Tangentially, the half hour of zone 2 (or what was zone 2, guess itâs closer to zone 3 now) I tacked on was in resistance mode. Despite only ever training with ERG, I did not find holding steady cadence/power to be taxing.
I know for some that this is one of those workouts that destroys them, but I felt so good with it. Definitely testing by the last two overs of the final set, but it brought out my determination in a good way. Have Antelope on the docket for today, which is going to be tough given the fatigue Iâm feeling in my legs.
You will return really fast! You have been there so the return should be swift. Have a good luck and good health.
Eclipse. I have found the end of week 4 of the SSB1 MV quite taxing aerobically.
Next week will be tough. Not only it is week 5 of the plan, I will travel through 4 countries, 6 timezones, making 6 overnight flights. My objective is to eat/drink clean, sleep at every opportunity, train to HR/RPE as close to the schedule as possible. Keep me in your thoughts ))
Hope you get/stay healthy. Looking forward to seeing your future gains.
