What workout did you do today? (2020, part 1)

I was at that same spot two years ago! We have thunder storms here in the UK today, so it’s like working out in a tumble dryer it’s so humid! Great pic @Gxespino :+1:

Got back on the TrainerRoad wagon today after taking the last 5 months off the trainer. Been riding quite a bit but just for fun and mostly solo since everything was getting canceled. Surprised at my results today. Glad to be back.

Pettit +1
Was supposed to be Collins +1 but app hadn’t caught up with change to plan in Calendar. Didn’t notice until I’d started and thus just ended up adjusting to try and match TSS.

That one required an absolute force of will to complete. These kinds of workouts are the ones I struggle the most with. Backpedalled in the recovery valley a couple of times but did all the intervals as prescribed. Had to keep my eyes closed on the last two though. My muscles felt so bright–like a slow white explosive burst–in those last 30 seconds. :skull_and_crossbones:

Weight room session followed by 90 min of super easy riding. It was very sunny out and the temp was 70 with a slight breeze hit the hilly route to hide from the head wind and had an easy tail wind home. Since it was a rest week, little ringed the hills to stay under 300w. Best ride of the year

Mcadie +1 today. Latest workouts felt bit to easy so I bumpt the workout 3% and it felt great. Like over/under suppose to feel. Loved every second of it. Ghehe

After Rest Day this thing is super fun at the beginning but gets worse and worse over time. Had to reduce a few minutes but was mentally back on track to the end. Was happy when it ended

Ciao , Yes thanks , It was hard but worth the effort, For me its better than ramp test,I can manage my power more progressive than on ramp test. I dont know why , maybe the hardware (basic old trainer cad+speed sensor) , but on ramp test I was burnt in twenty seconds by the final high cadence (over 110 rpm )see you

Coming near the end of my Build phase, I found McAdie +1 very tough last Sunday. Those over-unders can be cruel.

Again this morning, Shortoff +4 proved difficult, couldn’t keep up with the prescribed power. Maybe my FTP doesn’t suit me yet the last 2 ramp tests yielded 243 (May) and 248 (this month).

I’ll just have to stick with it!

Nothing like Spencer +2 to get the training week started! Thankfully I’m heading into a recovery week next week.

Second session of the recovery week. It was pretty humid in the garage and I think I simmered nicely during this. Drank all of my fluids though, so good habits are being created :+1:

Used an easy day in an easy week to practice riding my bicycle. Today’s challenge: Can an aging millennial who did not grow up doing tricks on a BMX bike learn to do a thing that the people who grew up doing tricks on their BMX bikes can do easy as breathing: ride with no hands?

Aaand sort of? If it’s a slight downhill? And I don’t have to pedal at all? Also worked on taking riding out of the saddle from absurdly awkward to moderately awkward, which was more successful than the no-hands thing.

Can I make a suggestion? Try the Holt Hill workout. The single arm drills sound silly but, they really encourage you to consider your hips and pelvis position. With the exception of turning the handlebars, these are both key to controlling and steering the bike.

I did notice this! It reminded me of my past life riding horseback.

Two cups of sweet coffee while my son was zwifting then burned a thousand calories, HR avg 123 but 130-140 for the endurance section.

Time for some bacon

For tonight we swim.

Another ramp test

Tried to do it as early in the morning as possible as it’s pretty warm and humid here in the UK at the moment and I struggle in the heat.

Got to 19:05 before bailing. So technically a drop of 5W from 266W but from previous experience of the Ramp test and subsequent workouts I test between 2 & 3% low. There’s only been one Ramp Test out of seven that I’ve done where I’ve felt it’s spot on, that was in early March when it was about 10C cooler.

It’s not my legs but my breathing that’s the limiter or more specifically expelling waste products at high intensity. I’m wondering if I should do something like the Short Power Build plan later in the year to focus effort on that area, which is definitely a weak spot for me as I’m very much a diesel.

I need to find a room sized fridge!
