A not-quite-Pettit on Zwift:

Ok so seriously, do people turn off the beeping and chiming or does it all mean something important and I need to go read a Zwift guide after I get over my bitterness at game platforms that don’t explain their game systems properly? I’ll go play Destiny for that dammit
easiest solution is to turn off Zwift ![]()
Taylor -1 which I have to say was really excellent.
Carson.
Breathing now seems to be normal. Which is good because I really want to avoid needing to see a doctor just now.
11 hours of “work from home” left my eye balls tired.
But the legs were fine.
Dade -1 and Streak Day # 131 in the books.
Looking forward to whatever the quarantine disaster day ride is going to be called.
Ramp test with a nice little FTP bump followed by Tour of Watopia. Giving Zwift a try since all my group rides have been #cancelled.
Off the bike for too many days, so time for an opener… took a look at Scott Peak and did it outside by feel rather than specific watt targets. Kept the basic format 4x (45 sec on / 90 sec off) and have the perfect stretch of closed road to do it on. ![]()
Taylor -2
The mantra of “just one more” was really helpful during this workout. Focusing on the task at hand, rather than the totality. My legs were definitely cooking during the intervals and then burnt at the end.
The mental side for Taylor -2 was hard, but I just had to keep cracking on. Broke down the 30 seconds into chunks of 5s and that really helped.
Since I didn’t do the Ramp test before starting SSB II I did Kaweah with +5%. 101% was fine, 104%FTP was hard but doable so I’m gonna adjust my FTP 3% up. Still had more energy at the end and feeling fine.

This one I found tough, done during stage 3 of Tour of Watopia, sure the ride up Alpe du Zwift helped mentally. Hardest workout I’ve done in a while, last interval on each set was tough, a real burn turn legs to jelly…
Extra half hour done to finish the tour from Dutch corner, going to have a rest day now for a little recovery.
This one and spanish needle is really a mental game ![]()
Today was first ride at my shiny new FTP.
I have to admit i was dreading it, but…
It went actually really well.
My smart trainer is a female-dog though on these 5s efforts, the ramp up is all over the place, the ramp down is a nightmare. Hence massive fluctuation, and probably a lot more effort than required.
Bah, i’m sure my body can take it ![]()
First ride after bumping my FTP by 12W did Washington + 4 - hard! https://www.trainerroad.com/app/career/bobw/rides/75486810-washington-4
The last interval was very much hanging in there. Most of the metrics seem OK but certainly don’t suggest I underperformed in my FTP test - I’m leaving it where it is ![]()
Day 2 of 14 indoors.
Bailed on Sustained Power Build due to missing workouts over last couple of weeks.
Decided to start again at SSBLV1 and will throw in extra workouts to stave off the boredom of life indoors.
I was going to do a longer Z2 workout, but ended up tidying the front garden first. As that’s a bit of a workout in itself, I let myself off the hook and kept it to an hour.
After having done Bays loads lately, I finally followed Chad’s advice and put the trainer into resistance mode before the final sprint. I couldn’t push it any higher than 500w-ish in the big ring, small cog (practically spinning out). Gonna have to experiment with the settings.
