Ramp test today going into SSB LVII - up to 285 which I’m pretty happy about. Daunting few workouts coming up with a decent raise!
3 x 16 min SST and 30 min Z2. Template workout is a custom workout I use for 2, 3 or 4 blocks depending on the day’s goals.
What are your training goals and what level of racing do you do? I hope the answer is Cat 1/Elite. Just curious because that amount of work is both impressive and foreign to me. ![]()
Baxter -1 in place of Reinstein today. Crazy holiday break with a sick kid trying his best to share it. No sense in pushing through a set of over/unders. Proud that I have learned what works for me in times of extra stress. Do the most amount of work that I can adequately recover from efficiently and move forward. No worries.
Tallac +3
I nearly talked myself out of doing this. Surely it will be too hard after the epic leg burn of Mary Austin -1 yesterday. I watched the Andy Murray: Resurfacing film on Prime, during the workout, which probably helped make me realise my pain yesterday was trivial. What surprised me was my legs did not feel heavy today and it didn’t feel like I was working particularly hard until I hit the 3rd interval.
Avalanche spires today
to kick off Sustained Power Build a week after IM Arizona. Gotta use that fitness & motivation for something productive.
Allegheny. God damn 3h 15 is a long time!! Had to dial it back for the last 25m, the tank was empty.
My long term goal is to get to my potential by doing maximum possible work i can do. I did get 5,6W/kg NP over 45min in a road race (so not all out) this season so i can compete at highest norwegian national level. I started to cycle at 27. I am 30 now and closing in on 2000 hours of training, since im “old” with fulltime work + some and a dog i don’t have a goal of getting on a team.
Fighting for 1st on nation master and ended 3rd this year. So maybe i will enter elite national next year.
Here is my time in zones for the first 7 of 12 weeks (SSB1+2)(Tacx Neo Watt)

McAdie Monday.
Kept seeing this workout being mentioned in the threads and then it came up again this morning, so I felt compelled to give it a try
Simple jog today as it’s a day off off ![]()
Antelope, felt great. I love steady efforts that just let me tick the boxes. It’s over/unders that really break me down.

Darwin this morning.
When I started this cycle of Base training, I never imagined that I’d enjoy Sweetspot/Threshold efforts but much to my surprise, these sessions are becoming increasingly within my reach. Really pleased with this session ![]()
Hunter -4 - had hunter in the calendar for yesterday but DOMs made me doubt my abilities, took on an easier version and tacked on 30 mins of endurance
Clyde as a warmup, then ramp test to start SSB2. I still suck at ramp testing, this time only coming 10W or so short of my current FTP estimate.
SSB1 Mid Volume has come to a close with this guy…
My bibs felt really uncomfortable…had to get up to readjust a few times… i guess i know what to ask for at xmas
My buddy really likes the dhb ones… might try those out, ive got the blackbibs (and i had gotten buddy to get a pair, which he hates!) but they’re not cutting it on the longer trainer rides

endurance into the wind! brrr, a bit chilly but great to be outdoors!
I had Bluebell today. Felt quite easy after yesterday’s messed up Hunter, so ended up bumping up the intensity, and did the last three intervals at 107%. Felt ok. Probably should’ve used one step easier gear for a more steady resistance on ERG (lesson learnt for the next VO2max session, maybe). Extended the cooldown by 10min.
