Galena +3 today, last week of SSB2 HV. Unfortunately wasn’t feeling totally up for it (was trying to squeeze it in too early for my liking and with the 70 degree basement my RPE was high), bailed on the 3rd 20min interval (out of 4 intervals). 50mins at 90% is good, but I take a certain amount of pride in getting through these long sessions. I did take my bike outside for 30mins, but it wasn’t that fun since I was already pretty cooked. I get another stab at Galena with the regular 3x20 variant tomorrow
Pettit, which was gloriously easy. On the plus side I was able to spin up above 160 rpm with control!
Bashful+6
The 2nd & third VO2 sets were tough but manageable, but who new that 25 min at 60% of FTP tacked on the end would seem so tough? I had real trouble maintaining enough focus to keep the cadence where I wanted it. Then the last 5+ min, the power “stuck” on my hammer. Even when I stopped pedaling during the cooldown, it still showed the same watts and cadence…
That’s the 1st time I’ve seen that behavior out of it…
Bashful +2. Wasn’t quite sure about this one, 90s VO2Max intervals are not quite my thing - ended up ok, sort of. Hard, no doubt. Got a few ANT+ dropouts (trainer only), giving the power drops visible in, for example, the 3rd and 5th intervals of the first set. The power drop to zero at the end of most intervals is me stopping pedaling and pondering the rest of my life for an instant.
Bashful +1 for me this morning. Really enjoy these type of workouts. Challenging and it makes you feel good cause you put in some damn solid work.
Finally broken the 300 at the end of full triathlon base, puts me at 3.89 w/kg
Thank you traineroad… you’ve transformed my cycling and triathlon potential… next stop 4w/kg
Mills +1
I expected this to feel harder. I normally struggle on VO2max stuff. But I raised power to 102% on the 2nd set, and for the 3rd did that and held power stead instead of letting it drop as prescribed.
I have a tendency to get overconfident if something starts easy, raise difficulty too much, dig too deep, and blow up. So I wanted to be somewhat conservative with increasing difficulty each set. But holy crap, I’m happy with how that went.
Pettit again for me:
This is a recovery ride, I’m doing a training series getting ready for the Seattle to Portland run.
Bashful+2. Hardest 60 minute workout I’ve ever done and a new TSS/hr record indoors for me.
1m20s intervals, max watts. Can’t hit Pro w/kg but getting closer
Galena today, 3x20 90, 94, 92%. Bailed during the 3rd interval on Galena +3 yesterday, felt better today, although riding at 94% (291w) in a 70 degree basement is not pleasant. Funny to say but I kind of miss winter training lol
Last night’s effort. A simple out and back with a 20km “sustainedish” effort on the way out.
The effort:
SAME I was dying on Tuesday. I think I really need a fan or seven.
Dropped stem another 3cm last night so this was gonna be a test. Managed about 95% of it in tt position.
Phone slid out of view on table a couple times. Hence the dropped power
ouch this one hurt but felt good to get through most of it as prescribed. Had to lower 5% halfway thru the 6th interval but worked back up to 100% on the final. I’m in the later half of General Build and the workouts are really tough for me to complete as designed. I’ve had to modify the past 4 slightly. In SSB I usually had no trouble. Is this expected? Anything I should note from it?
Coming off a race Sunday, so wanted something a little different that wasn’t going to kill me. Electra fit the bill.
Donner for me tonight, another threshold workout that looks harder than it actually is. Tried some different cadence drills and settled on c92-95 which is where I’m most comfortable. Anything below 87 and I feel as though I’m loading my legs with weight !!
Kaweah -1. Woke up a little later than intended so lopped off an interval from planned Kaweah. Still good work. Felt good… but now my SI is all out of whack, which does NOT feel good.
Brick - outdoor bike ride to replace Pioneer; I had an awesome time despite the kamikaze bugs. Followed up by a run where I set a 5k PB. Took over a minute off my previous best 5k time which was from years ago and preceded a knee injury that stopped me running for a couple of years.
