Bluebell. Went well, added 3% to the last set. Demanding but not overwhelming.
it doesn’t negate it at all. it was more about me because not biking that much where I live, a place terrific for cycling, needs an excuse ![]()
Truuli -1. (Ramp test tomorrow. I know it’s just a training baseline and I’m reading power off my budget trainer so it’s probably wrong anyway, but I’m sort of hoping to shove myself out of double digits.)
Swim workout earlier than normal because a) I could today and b) I had a dinner meeting in the city. The glorious benefit was I had a lane all to my self for the entire time. ![]()
Main: 3x1000m (1st easy with buoy, 2nd moderate w buoy, 3rd pull), followed by 2x(50 easy/fast, 50 fast/easy, 50 easy, 50 fast) each on 1:00.
What’s the dif. between buoy and pull? Thought they were one in the same. Sorry, only a few months into it and i’m short on the lingo.
pulling is usually done with a buoy (or band) with the intent of preventing a kick. because it’s so common, the safe assumption is paddles & buoy but you could do paddles with no buoy just like buoy with no paddles, as I did. so in this case, during the first 2x1000, no paddles and no kick, but for the 3rd 1km, paddles and still no kick.
Just like @mountainrunner I too had a lane to myself for the entirety of my swim. And because I was at the nice pool an hour from my home, it was actually a lane (i.e. had lane ropes)!
A very late lunch meant I was quite lethargic and didn’t really want to do Mills, but I hopped on the bike and got it done. After the first set I upped the intensity 2% - that was more than enough by the end.
I did Mills as well today. Felt good and probably could have gone up but to lazy to reach out over the bars to adjust the tablet.
Just finished Pisgah +6. This was harder than I thought it looked like it was going to be. Legs felt pretty spent on my 4th interval, and I opted to bail on that one, and take some extra rest before the second set. I’ve had a trend for a while now where I’ll go too deep, blow up, and quit the workout early. So in the spirit of not doing that, I thought the extra rest was warranted.
2nd set went well, Took two 10 second back pedals, but otherwise made it through strong. Endurance section seemed quite easy, felt good throughout it. Briefly considered adding a little bit extra onto the end, and then looked at the time and thought it’d be a much better idea to just finish and get to bed on time.
Taylor -2
I was terrified to try my first VO2 workout but it really wasn’t so bad. Yes I know this is an easy one but it made me feel a lot better to be able to power through it will no issues. I’m sure the humility is just a few workouts away…
Picked this little beauty up from the Crit training thread. Brilliant workout! I have tweaked it slightly to get what I need but it’s 98% original. You really can feel the race playing out in your legs and mind.
Juneau -1 rounded out a 8-day 855TSS week as I pushed this workout to monday instead of skipping it due to one outside ride.
Felt really nice and so I wrapped up SSB2HV on a high note. Just the, slightly shortened, recovery week ahead before I start GBHV.
Started feeling a bit faint after 2h 18m so I thought about it for a bit, wondered if I could catch up on fuel, then decided to bail. I’m not gaining from it if I’m not functioning properly.
Not a good sign at all, but probably down to lack of fuelling - 1x 750ml powerboat isotonic/hr but I’d burned 1300kcal.
Could not get comfortable either, my arms/shoulders taking the strain for only five minutes at a time before sitting up.
Feeling quite negative, I put my numbers into “best bike split” for the Lanzarote course…over 7hrs at that pace…pass me the revolver.
Successful Ansel Adams - 2. Not sure why the blue isn’t showing, but was spot on. I thought the 130% was gonna be a challenge, but the recovery was enough for the four intervals in each block and after the warm up and interval I knew it was going to be doable.
back to work in sustained power build HV - week 4, mist +2 9x3min vo2, fortunately not at 120% lol had to backspin once during the last minute of the last one, so I consider it a success given how poorly i’ve historically done with 3min vo2 intervals
