I have a slight problem with buying Oakleys!
I have a slight problem with buying Oakleys!
Smith Attack sunglasses. I love how I can pop off the nose piece and arms, pop in the low light lens, and voila, I’m ready to roll in under 10 seconds. I got a good deal on pair that was returned so didn’t pay full price.
I also wear Smith Lowdown Slims because I have a tiny face but I like the Wayfarer style. I wear the Lowdowns on more casual stuff and around town. The only thing is their shape lets air in the sides and dries out my eyes and lets the corners of my eyes get too much sun, so I use the Attack in any riding over an hour or so.
+1 for the Smith Pivlock Arena.
Only downside so far has been having a bee get sucked in and landing on the inside of the glasses while riding along
Picked up a pair of ROKA GP-1s on a recent sale for about $100 and so far I’ve liked them much better than my $20 Amazon sets I have been using. They’re noticeably lighter and the lens is very clear with no distortion around the peripheral edges.
QUESTION for the Forum Gang:
Using Radar Lock Oakleys with the Trail Prizm lens.
Having massing fogging issues on trail. I keep them clean and have tried different anti-fog approaches such as polishing with dish soap and Rain-X. No good. I am a heavy sweater and often ride in high humidity mornings at times.
I’ve had Rudy Project and a bunch of other brands. Also tried a pair of Ryders and their antifog tech (no good).
Google Fu not finding anything great so crowd sourcing an answer. Really want eye protection in the woods but also need to be able to see.
Tnx - realize its not an uncommon problem but at this point am ready to try drilling more holes in the lenses.

@mcneese.chad – Didn’t want to start a new sunnies thread but please break this out if it will contaminate this one too much. Tnx Tnx

I’ve been a loooooooooooooong time (I still have my original Oakley’s from the early 90s with the trigger earpieces) Oakley wearer. For me, they fit, block the wind and debris, I’ve always been able to find a pair whose style I like, the len’s quality just keeps getting better, and they last. In 34 years of cycling, I’ve owned only 5 pairs, so the $/year ratio is pretty good.
I’ve been on Smith for awhile now. Rx have some insert style glasses that were OK for road riding (would fog on MTB rides). Now I have a set of direct fit Rx chrono Smith, I think they’re over drives. Amazing. Best glasses I’ve tried. I’ve had Rudys, Tifosi, and now a few pair of Smiths.
I’ve tried a bunch of different glasses… Smith Pivlock, Rudy Project, POC Half-Do …
But my current favorite going on 2 summers now are the 100% S2 glasses.
You can see a picture of them on the rider below. That’s not me ![]()
I just picked up a pair of 100% s3. I think they look ridiculous, but I truly wanted more coverage and a higher line of sight while my head is down. Even after riding with them for a couple of weeks I think they look terrible, but I really love the performance. The wind doesn’t bother my eyes as much and I can be head down pedaling and I still have to try hard to look clear over the top of the lense.
Alba Optics Stratos, Oakley Sutro and Jawbreaker and Smith Pivlock Arena Max.
Sutro are hands down my favourite.
Just got the ROKA Matadors for gravel thanks to a Strava challenge $50 off coupon. They’re outstanding. Eye watering all but gone on fast descents.
I know this is an old post, but what are you secrets to finding them that cheap? I can’t find deals on these things approaching $100 much less $60-$80
Anyone have a good lead on a make and model that is the combination of…
Why is this so hard to find?
Cujo,
I usually just do a Google search and click the shopping tab. I found these deals. I looked a couple of weeks ago for my son and noticed finding them at $60.00 was getting harder. The Arena and Arena Max are a couple of generations old and I’m guessing inventory has dried up.
I recently upgraded to some Oakley EVZero blades with the prism road lens which I love. Super comfy and mega light, with no frame too which makes for great vision
Kask Koo.
Purple and orange Briko Stingers. I found an old pair that I’d forgotten about in the back of a closet. They’re a nice retro Mario look.
I just bought some new Tifosi Fototec Light Night sunglasses for mtb on clearance. They are only one short ride old but they performed exactly as I’d have hoped as far as tint I think.
