What type of sunglasses are you guys wearing?

Jawbreakers - great coverage and the adjustable length arms are a brilliant little feature.

I have a pair of Oakley Mark Cavendish Radar Locks for good, multiple pairs of chinese jawbreakers for offroad and some chinese POC Do Blades too.

My $10 Chinese POCs were great last season and I loved the multiple lenses for any conditions! Unfortunately the shipping cost of $30 was a bit steep for a single pair, so I should probably buy in bulk next time, lol. Might try the fake Jawbones this season.

Where you buying them from that the shipping is that much? I got multiple pairs of these and jawbreakers off AliExpress and shipping was only a few dollars

Interesting. Actually when I was ordering I think the supplier told me they could no longer do regular shipping and had to do expedited (I can’t remember her explanation why). Maybe that was a BS story. Anyway the glasses arrived in 3 days so I was pretty happy with that! Maybe I have to shop around a bit more and find a supplier who can do regular shipping at a lower cost next time.

I’ve got a pretty strong prescription, and the Oakly Flak 2.0 XL have proven the best so far. I’ve got two sets of lenses, the “Prizm Road”, and clear for overcast or night riding. The lenses are amazingly sharp and distortion free.

I tried a few different options before the Flaks. Most of them sucked. I tried the Smith Pivlocks with inserts, but the inserts f__ with the fit and I also get a glare off the double lenses. Also tried the Smiths with contacts, but I really hated contacts.

Oakley wind jacket 2.0 and Oakley M frame

Oakley EVzero and Sutros both Prizm lenses. EVzero for dirt and Sutros for road

After years of Oakley Radar EV Path, switched to Roka last summer and love them. GP-1x model. Great clarity and coverage. They handle South Florida sun just fine. No more Oakley for me.

:+1: I can recommend the Tifosi Podium XC both in fototec and shiny blue lenses. I probably use the fototec lenses for 2/3 of the year in the UK.

I have some cheap Tifosi with orange lenses that are 5 years old that I love, and then some Rudi Projects for serious aero tt position time.

Oakley Flak 2.0 XL Prizm Trail for MTB
Oakley JawBreaker Prizm Road for… Tadaaa road and occasional MTB ride if the sun is craycray

Off training I use Oakley Holbrook with Prizm Jade. Just bought. Love them.

I really love Oakley’s lenses. Having tried knock-offs they just don’t do it for me.

OK dumb question here (and this really is a question…not trolling)…but could someone tell me what $100-200+ buys in sunglasses that you dont get from $15 brewery/amazon/gas station sunglasses?

Better lenses, that’s really what you’re paying for with expensive glasses. The way they handle direct light, low light, light transition from shadow/sun. Even with that, much of what you’re paying for is the branding/style. It really just depends on if that is worth the money to your or not. I have legit pairs of Oakley Jawbreakers, Oakley Radar Path EV’s, and a couple Smith models, and then I have about 10 pairs of $15 chinese versions of Oakleys and 100% models. Yeah you can tell a difference with the legit Prism lenses but not that big of a difference so I would say if you don’t care that much about the style/brand/lens then the markup is probably not worth the investment for you. Oh, and also in between are the better quality controlled in between sunglasses by companies like Tifosi and Siroko where you can get a decent pair in the $40 range.

*Disclaimer, cheap lenses are somewhat of a gamble, most are fine but some are really bad where you will almost have a rainbow wash to everything.

My new favortie 100% S2
Long time user Oakley Jawbreaker

Agree with the guy above. But also distortion. A lot of cheap sunglasses give me a weird parallax effect that gives me headaches and some minor motion sickness. I’ve never gotten this feeling with any Oakley or Ray Ban sunglasses that I’ve owned though. I’m sure some gas station glasses are better than others but I don’t find them worth it.

Can anyone who has Chinese/knockoff versions comment on if their lenses shatter? I mountain bike so the chances of impact are higher and I’ve always been dissuaded from buying out of fear of the lenses shattering into 1,000 pieces and getting into my eye. Not sure if this is a warranted fear or not.

For now I’m wearing $10 safety glasses I bought online. Most of my riding is under tree cover so I don’t really need light filtering and if anything could benefit from brightening.

I can’t comment on the shattering thing but for trail riding I do love the Oakley Prizm trail lenses. I don’t know how they stack up with clear lenses but they do a good job and contrasting different browns and oranges and do seem to brighten things up a little.
