What happened to Ivy/AFC NFC Championship Thread

I didn’t know they were still doing the podcast. Personally I’d rather listen to 2 or 3 other ones for the same amount of time available, but that’s just me.

I was close to turning it off at half time. The Niners had been playing so bad - especially on defense. But I told myself that having Purdy behind center rather than Jimmy G means they had a chance to turn things around if they could just get a couple stops. Some really impressive scrambling by Purdy and his teammates stepped it up with some great catches.

Between last week against the Packers and this week, not sure my heart can handle another close game like that

Amber, Chad, now Ivy…who will be next?

I do think it odd that people just disappear from the podcast without mention. People move on… that’s normal and a part of life. I do wish a simple “xxx has moved to a new job/position and we wish them well.” If you are the face of marketing or podcast it is only a few seconds but brings closure. Wish them all the best!

Do you host a podcast for a living?

Run it back. Ben Johnson is staying. Were going for more kneecaps next year. LETS GO

I’m shocked Johnson is staying….only 32 head coaching gigs out there and his stick may never be higher than right now.

I hear he wanted a lot of money, also with the current structure he would only have a few years to turn it around. Washington traded both DE this off season and it can be viewed as a bad spot to coach since they dont have a lot of upside. Hard division to get wins in with the eagles and cowboys firing on all cylinders also.

Does that negate privacy? It’s not a personal vlog…

Yea, kinda… I’d consider Ivy a public figure at this point as she’s hosting (hosted?) one of the most popular cycling podcasts, makes videos for the website, youtube, comments here, etc.

It’s a bit odd for a host of a podcast to just disappear with neither them nor the employer even mentioning it. Like you don’t find it odd that we’ve now had 2 main hosts (both women btw) just stop appearing with zero acknowledgement from TrainerRoad? I can’t honestly think of another podcast I follow where someone is just removed from hosting with zero acknowledgment from that person nor the podcast. I don’t understand why it’s so hard for TrainerRoad to just say “Hey listeners, [BLANK], is no longer with TrainerRoad as they’ve [INSERT HALF ASSED EXPANATION HERE]. Therefore [BLANK] will no longer be hosting the podcast.” We don’t need a detailed explanation, but to act like we’re dumb and won’t notice/question is an odd decision.

Who knows, it may not be permanent - maybe she’ll be back which would be reason not to announce her departure. This all came up because somebody checked her profile on TR and it says user is suspended until 2026. Mark your calendars for Mar 1, 2026 8:11 am.

Meh, it al just feels a bit to much like parasocial relationship. But to each their own I guess.

I never thought Ivy was a good fit for the podcast. To her credit she gave good advice in terms of using the App, suggested workouts, workout alternates, etc. But Ivy is a free spirit, the exact opposite of Jonathan. From many of her comments you can tell she is a gifted rider but one that rides, trains and races on feel. I don’t think this resonates with the majority of the TR audience who is focused on following a plan, structure, nutrition in an effort to get faster. I don’t think it’s a big loss.

You sure about that

A host that rides and races resonates with me.

No disrespect intended to other hosts but going back and listening to old episodes you got the feeling the hosts were in the training trenches using the product with you. That’s long gone.

I guess that’s why I like her contributions. They don’t just mirror Jonathan.

Ivy really killed it with Hot takes. I’ll miss that.

Hey y’all,

Ivy is no longer with the company, and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.

When a public-facing employee leaves, it’s always tricky.

The forum really wants to hear the details about why something happened. You all speculate, and some of you drag either my name, the company’s, or the employee’s through the mud.

I understand why this happens.

Many of you have listened to us talk for hundreds of hours, and you genuinely know our personalities pretty well, which is connecting.

So, when something happens and you don’t have answers, it feels weird and inauthentic since we’re usually so transparent about the company.

I also regret not having Amber on the podcast one final time before she departed.

Amber had transitioned off the podcast about a year before that and was focusing on being a product manager.

When she put in her notice to leave the company, I never thought to put her on one last time to say goodbye.

That was a mistake. Pete got to do a farewell, and Amber did not, and I’m sorry for that. It wasn’t fair.

For other company departures, my policy is not to discuss why they happened. I do this for a couple of reasons:

  1. It respects the privacy of the former employee.
  2. Let’s assume the situation of an involuntary departure. TrainerRoad has a significant platform, and discussing the details of an employee’s departure could be unfair. Former employees might not agree with my perspective and may not have the same platform to respond.

Or to put it another way, would you want the forum discussing the details of why you left a former job? Especially when your former boss was the one who told the story? Probably not.

The good news is we’ve got some excellent guests lined up for y’all. We’re going to rotate in new ones all the time to keep it fresh and make sure we’re all still learning.

I’m perfectly willing to discuss a lot of stuff about TrainerRoad, but I will not discuss why individual employees left the company. If you have any questions, let me know.

Well said

But given the dual nature of this thread, I think you also need to give us your opinion on Brock Purdy: Game Manager or Game Changer?

Thank you for replying, and for mentioning Amber as well. I know this will not be enough for some, but I personally appreciate TR not just remaining silent on the topic when these people are seen by many as the face of the company.

Best wishes to Ivy and to you all.
