VO2 max test and TR calendar

Hoping for some advice. If this were you would you move current workouts in your TR calendar, add testing to your TR calendar as some kind of “event", or make no changes to TR at all?

I have a repeat VO2 max and LT test scheduled 12 Feb. 34 y/o male running a balanced masters plan. I am new to training and picked masters after ending up in a hole last year (pre-TR) that took multiple weeks off everything other than eating and sleeping to recover from, so I’m taking what I view as a very conservative approach and will slowly increase volume over years, not months.

I would screenshot, but mobile.

Sat 7 Feb: threshold

Sun 8 Feb: (yellow light) endurance

Mon 9 Feb: empty

Tues 10 Feb: VO2 max

Wed 11 Feb: empty

Thurs 12 Feb: TR endurance & lab VO2 max with LT

Fri 13 Feb: empty

Sat 14 Feb: threshold

WWYD?

I suppose it depends on your goals - do you want the test to show your rested state or your “middle of training” state?

I’d be tempted to add the test as a “race” - I think if you add it as a B-event the plan will tapper you for it.

To be honest I think all it would do is remove that VO2max workout on the 10th and replace it with either endurance or an “opener” - you could probably just do that yourself.
