Various modes explained

I’m trying to find a summary of what slope vs resistance mode is. In searching here and on the website I can find references to it but not an actual description. I know what erg mode is.

For context I’m doing a workout by my coach that I’d like to use trainer road for. I usually pick an even endurance ride and adjust my target on the fly but for this workout I need to do all out sprints in bursts of 30 and I don’t want to force my wattage with erg mode but not sure what to switch mode to use for this part of the workout.
