Unresponsive SRAM AXS Shifter

My left SRAM AXS shifter (2022) is unresponsive following a firmware upgrade. Looking for help / suggestions beyond the basic internet recommendations.

Left and right shifter batteries were low. I replaced the right battery and installed a firmware upgrade without problem. On the left I updated the firmware, then replaced the battery. Following the replacement the shifter is completely unresponsive.

I have examined the electrical pins and pulled them out slightly to ensure contact. I have tried two different, new coin cell batteries. I have removed the bitter flavor coating. When pressing the AXS button no light illuminates. I have tried re-pairing, too.

Thanks for help / suggestions in advanced!

You might double check that the battery is installed in the proper direction. I can’t remember if it’s possible to install them backwards with the SRAM shifters, but I remember doing it once on something and I think it was a shifter.

FWIW, I have found SRAM email support to be excellent, so definitely worth giving them a try.

I have done that before. They do fit either way and it’s very easy to install wrong. As for the firmware update. That too has gone wrong for me a long time ago and as long as all functions properly I never bother with updates any longer. I have not done the firmware in 5 or 6 years

I the battery one that has the coating on it to make it that kids don’t put it in their mouths?
Sram wrote something about the coating causing a bad contact with the shifter and the are not recommended, just in case.
There also been cases where after an update everything has to be re-pair sometimes.

I updated one shifter and the other one won’t update so I just left it alone. I am in agreement with you, I will not update the firmware again as they work just fine.

Certainly a reasonable approach with something like a bicycle shifter. Really though, all you can say is they work just fine in your experience and so far. The transmission in my SUV worked just fine, but had two software updates that prevented the possibility of it self destructing as some others had before the updates. It’s still working just fine with the two updates.
