I seem to remember that when PLs were introduced custom workouts were not properly scored - IIRC correctly you could re-create a TR workout through the workout creator and it would get a different PL (usually lower).
I just kinda curious if the model only looks at watts now, are custom workouts properly accounted for?
They are properly accounted for in the fact that the AI doesn’t care about your AL/PL when chosing your next workout. Just the work you did. It is not properly accounted for in regards to it moving the red bar, the AI doesn’t care about the red bar.
Sticking to cycling, it is my understanding that the New and Improved AI properly takes into account all rides when making adaptation. That would include indoor TR plan workouts, outdoor plan workouts, any other custom workout indoor or outdoor, and any unstructured riding indoor or outdoor. It also now uses HR, whereas it didn’t prior. That would be great if that’s true, despite some bugs and teething problems.
Will the AI give me credit for the custom workouts that I complete - both in predicting future FTP, and in adjusting my recommend plan workouts to reflect what I am capable of doing in my custom workouts?
Adding to this: I did one of my custom VO2max workouts today. It had an IF of 0.94 vs my new, lower, AI FTP. My VO2max progression level stayed at 4.3. So looks like I’m still lot getting credit for custom workouts.
Understood (but also a bit disappointed) that PLs will not be shown for custom workouts and custom workouts will not contribute to PLs.
Carter indicated that the system would take custom workouts into account when generating workout recommendations and predicting FTP.
I’ve yet to see evidence of the latter. The only data point I have right now is TR planning a future VO2max workout for me with an IF of 0.83, when I completed a custom VO2max workout yesterday with IF of 0.94.
Anyways, for now I’m doing my usual custom workouts at my “old” (pre AI) FTP.
Maybe it’ll take the AI system a few cycles through to fully catch up?
