+1 on the EU version. Can you let the forum know when it`s available, thx.
Similarly here, the Irish market will need a UK plug anyway. I only ordered another a few weeks ago, but via Amazon.co.uk.
Took delivery today with use of the discount code and it’s a great bit of kit.
Did you get a kickback for setting their 2021 sales strategy?
HA, I wish
I’d be happy to be able to get one in the US with our lame plug
Just ordered the new Cardio54 to go with my original Cleva fan using the KEEPCOOL code
Thanks @Cleva_Doug
My setup is now one Cleva either side on the floor - one pointing at my face and the other at my torso. I set the level in advance according to the intensity of the workout and these are smart-switch voice activated.
The new Cardio54 is higher up and near centre, pointing at the whole body. That gets turned on first at level 1 when I start to warm up (controller on handlebars), then goes through the gears as needed. The floor fans get used as afterburners when I really get going.
Not noticed a drop of sweat on the bike or floor, but the back of the jersey is pretty damp and my face gets covered in a film of salt crystals (on a good day )
Using the codes, the whole setup cost about the same as a single Wahoo Headwind but is far more adjustable and shifts a lot more air!
Since you have 3 great fans, and mention the sweat on your back, try a test. Move one of them to dead center behind you, about waist high on a stand, and blow straight on your hips that will flow up your back. That is a large surface and we can really improve cooling with decent flow over it. Just takes some planning with the fans (front and rear) to keep from killing the flow. But keep your body between them and it works really well.
Ah - interesting idea. Not really going to work with my setup though as the Kickr is tight up against the wall so no room for a fan behind (I’m a bit stuck for space). The sweaty back doesn’t bother me when I’m on the bike - I’m sure you’re right that it would help but I’m happy enough to have a dry front!
Just grabbed myself one of these. Looks like a great product and love the idea of the remote! Excited!
@Cleva_Doug Is the new fan the same as the old fan with just a remote and colorscheme?
Been using mine for a week now and impressed with it after the basic fan I had before. I wasn’t sure that the remote was worth it, but having used it its a great little addition
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the question this one has been asked a few times so here is how we approached it.
The performance of the unit is identical to the AM1202 this is what was really liked about the fan in the first place. It also uses the same reliable and quiet brushless motor. We kept this the same.
What we did during the development of the Cardio54 is to focus on the users and how we can produce a remote control system that is better than the remote switch many users have been purchasing. We beleive our solution offers a better experience for the user when training.
The remote system we developed is little more advanced than a standard remote and allows the user to change the speed of the fan remotely while training, it also allows each remote to be paired to a specific Cardio54 fan, this benefit allows users to have different speeds from different fans.
The solution should be ideal for users that buy 2 or 3 fans to position around them and also want each fan to be at a different speed and change that speed at different stages of a training session.
The included remote strap also lets you position many remotes on your bike, treadmill or on your wrist.
Overall it should offer a great experience and does look good too!
Hope you like using it.
Air mover aimed at my back was my second cooling game changer, second only to getting the initial air mover. I had 2, and added a third as I was having back skin issues that sweat was adding to the irritation.
After reading a link from here, I had one at my torso and one at my face/ head both front on. Added the third for my back. If I recall correctly the one pointed at the head/ face is for RPE, but in pure cooling terms I’d have the one aimed at my back ahead of it.
During frosty mornings, with my pain cave door open, I genuinely got too cold and had to add some remote control sockets (I could reach the two front ones). Even during some of the longer recovery valleys, never mind endurance workouts.
That’s great to read
I know with my 3 fan setup and outside air to the front ones, I stagger powering them on, and adjust speed to meet the demands of each workout and the actual temp of the outside air. Some days, I just use 1 or 2 on low. The back one stays off for the easy Z2 rides in most cases. But all 3 roll for anything above Tempo.
I agree, the face one is largely for “feel” and may not help from a physical standpoint, but that fresh and cool air sure feels amazing in hard efforts and more like I am actually outside in the real ride, which is aided by my Zwift screen and immersion too.
On the Bluetooth fan I built a few years back, I had a data feed from Zwift on cycling speed that could be used to control the fan air speed. It worked great. At the time, I remember thinking it would be great if Zwift also provided a data feed on when you were in the draft of another rider, as that could also be used to adjust the fan speed.
That speed mixed with draft impact would be SO COOL! (pun intended and appropriate).
That level of immersion seems crazy to people in the cycling world now. But I come from the world of auto sim racing, and the stuff there is WAY more in depth than people realize. Some are using wind speed simulators, just like you discuss, to give a sense of speed there.
I think your fan concept would be such a great feature. I also want support for Track IR, which I feel is a better, and easier solution to the virtual view aspect than VR goggles.
I’d also like to incorporate my Butt Kicker speaker / shaker setup to the trainer bike, for stuff like cobblestones without needing it from the trainer. Lots of ways to take this all to the next level
That project went on pause (abandoned?) when I got a real job again!
Doug, I do love my original and actually will miss the extra outlet.
That said, I was really hoping for a wider output of air to cover “more” of the body.
Another quick question - can a single remote be paired to all the fans in case someone doesn’t want to control them individually?
Hi Peter,
We will always continue to sell the AM1202, the Cardio54 is additional to our range of products.
No the remotes can’t control more than 1.
We can keep reading the forum for ideas for the next generation !
Keep posting your personal set ups and experiments it’s great to see the individual uses. Product development is usually very distant from the end users so it’s really good to see photos of the products being used and the feedback we are getting.
Thanks
