Two weeks out from Flanders – how to make the most of it?

First time poster!

I’m two weeks out from the Flanders sportive (Sat 5 April). I had a solid winter block through Dec/Jan and was in okay shape, but work’s been hectic lately and I’ve fallen behind a bit on both training and nutrition.

That said, I’ve managed a couple of decent long rides over the past few weekends—140km and 120km. I’ve felt okay, definitely not flying, but confident I’ll get round fine. Just won’t be in peak form.

Given where I’m at, what’s the best use of training time over the next fortnight? Any advice on areas of focus to sharpen up without overdoing it—and when should I start tapering?

Appreciate any thoughts!

Expect the unexpected weatherwise. Most years I’ve done the shorter berg version its been great weather and summer kit weather, but the year I did the long one. It was freezing when I rode the 12miles to the start, everything during the day, we had to walk up the Koppenberg it was that slippy and we had snow at the end.

Really not much you can do at this point…you aren’t going to find any major fitness gains.

Get a decent week in this week with some Ss / tempo work and then rest next week before the event.

Other than that, just enjoy the day!

Great event. Enjoy it.

How much training time have you got and where you are at in terms of PLs, particularly the tempo and sweet spot PLs?

Certainly aim for a long ride this weekend and next. Lower intensity next weekend than this.
