Triathlon AI training plans

I gave up on TR a couple of years ago because the triathlon plans seemed to get less attention. At the time there were no polarized or masters plans. Has TR improved for triathlon in the last year?
Not sure if the same model will work well across all sports. Swimming especially is so person specific; different people have different stroke weaknesses and unless AI starts doing video analysis it really can’t recommend the right drills.

The triathlon plans in general are lower on the priority list for innovation or upgrades, however there have been a few positive improvements . I’m waiting to see how the new update affects tri plans. A couple weeks ago i was looking at what the training plan options were across the various platforms and inquired to see if any triathlon specific improvements were coming on TR. They said they could not discuss upcoming developments…..so i’m hoping the new launch comes out very soon. 2026 Season is coming quick.

I’ve trialed other AI platforms, didn’t much like any of them, and feel like TR has the best basis for some future excellent triathlon plans if they choose to invest in that but they may want to stay bike focused. Can’t be mad at that really.

TR is still far from being a one-stop-shop for triathlon… but I think that the bike part does now play nicer with other activities.

I.e. you can have TR manage the bike and it will adjust around the extra activities you do.

It could be better though.

I am moderately sceptical as well.

I tryed Mats, the new AI „World class Coach“ witch is not only trained on workout data but also on the training concepts of actual world class coaches (like Philipp Seipp or David Tilbury-Davis). So it does not only throw variations of intensity-Intervalls at the athlete. It also includes whoop and Apple Watch hrv data and what not.

But the actual workout recommendations (especially Timing and sequence) are far from what any coach would prescribe. Maybe AI is just not there yet…

I tried Tridot and Athletica as well, i found them too data heavy in some respects….ironic i know, given that they can only recommend stuff based on data i give them so maybe that’s on me. i actually like the vagueness of the TR tri run/swim options since it allows me to tailor those to my ability/capacity . What i want out of TR is an enhanced ability to tweak swimming more than 1300 yds a workout (or to ask me what my weekly swim schedule is) and let it know that i’m ok at that rate/level since i don’t wear HR in the pool. i also think there is some real room to scoop up a bunch more Masters triathletes if they allow for a bit more customization of the schedule/recovery ratio.

And i would love for them to partner with Rouvy like they do Zwift. I burned out on the cartoon world in the early days of Computrainer and prefer to see the real world when i ride. Now that Rouvy houses the Ironman race courses, it is easy to hop on for a course recon too.

Just wishing.

Fully agree on the swimming part. I did the 8 weeks faster freestyle challenge in parallel to the TR Olympic Triathlon plan.

Where I am not quite sure is the balance between riding and running. At least in the build phase, I think the combined biking&riding Load is a little bit too much, at least for me. On the other hand the introduced the masters version of all the triathlon plans, which could solve my load problem.
