TrainingPeaks Virtual - [formerly, "Should TrainerRoad link up with IndieVelo"]

Gave it a whirl last night. UI/UX is a bit clunky IMO but eventually you get there and you can do your workout. Auto calibrate with Zwift is great, but will get used to the manual calibration here. I pretty much ride/train with ERG off but wanted to try it.

Overall the workout was exactly like Zwift. If they come out with an app like Zwift’s companion that would be awesome. I want to try a ‘pace’ ride to see how it is to Zwift. Those are my go to for longer z2 days when I don’t want to ride in ERG.

I used my Zwift gen 1 trainer as the power meter, but tonight I’ll use my powertap p2s to see if they work.

Seems like a great alternative and it’s free (until March). Probably will drop zwift

I can’t get any data/numbers on the screen, just the virtual world - no powernumbers, heart rate, speed, map, profile or list of other users.

Anyone with the same issue?

press H?

Not sure on the Zwift Hub (assuming that’s the right trainer) but every time I’ve heard of a trainer auto calibrating it’s within the trainer rather than done by the connected software…meaning, there’s a ‘calibrate’ button there for if you really want to be sure, but your turbo is likely auto calibrating every time you coast for long enough.

Haha, that did the trick :joy:. Thanks mate.

This might help for other shortcuts. (you probably tried to type ‘hello’ without pressing M first!)

Just an update in case anyone else runs into the same issue as me. Response from TPV support, “My apologies as this is indeed a known issue on itel Macs. Our engineers are aware of this and have it on their pipeline to resolve, however they have not provided us with an ETA.”

It’s very likely there was an issue with your connection… normally if erg changes aren’t reflected in the trainer, it’s because either the signal is dropping out, or something else is interfering with the trainer control - for example a different app, or a configuration app on your phone.

If that doesn’t help, toggle compatibility mode in settings.

Possibly - why I created a support ticket with TPV over this issue

Canceled Zwift today. TPV suits my needs. Did a pacer ride, pretty cool.

Yeah, I’ve canceled Zwift too. The more I see of TPV, the more I like it. Better graphics, better display of data IMHO, no glitch with repeating intervals from TP, better fetching of today’s TP workouts. And the possibility that they’ll integrate comments/communication with coaches is neat.

I can see tons of potential, and would prefer to patronize TP over Zwift anyway. But given that Zwift is $200/year and TrainingPeaks Premium costs $120 including TP Virtual (and that’s before any discount coupons that may become available, typically around Black Friday), it’s a no-brainer for me to get all the calendar and planning goodness plus TP, and get TPV included, for 40% less than the price of Zwift alone.

The structured workout support is leagues ahead of Zwift in functionality, display, and usage. Something so simple as being able to toggle ERG on/off from a keyboard on desktop usage helps a lot.

Me too. Canceled Zwift when I started sending George money for the Founders Club so I could use Apple TV. And don’t miss the power ups and other gamification nonsense.

it’s a pity the founders club is no longer available as being a full TP subscriber and Apple tv user it’s annoying the Apple tv app isn’t available.

Surely the Apple TV app will still be supported - why would they not?

Its definitely not available as ive looked

Mega problems somehow came in with the switch. For George to be talking about months to get it sorted must mean it’s a big job!

I’m trying to see if I can export planned workouts from TP to TPV, but as of today I don’t see that option. Anyone here to confirm if this is currently possible?

Planned workouts will send over from TP automatically on the morning of of but they need to be built/structured with power and have a title. You can’t sync automatically an entire training plan. Just day of. They’ll pop up under ‘Scheduled’ workouts. Workouts that are heart rate based won’t sync.

Thanks, I just realized that I had no workout scheduled for today. Once I fixed it, the workout showed up in TPV.
