It took me a while to figure out, but in TPV you can control the graphics fidelity for your machine.
I have a decade old PC with decent specs that can run everything at maximum settings while retaining 30 FPS.
I also have a more recent entry level laptop (with integrated graphics) that drops to single digits FPS with everything set to max.
Don’t remember if Zwift allows that type of customization, but the graphics look great with decent desktop.
I can even see the individual spokes smoothly moving on the wheels of people that pass me
My biggest concern with TPV is that they have only two worlds. An increase in worlds and variety of worlds would be much welcomed.
Speaking of pacers for TPV, it is nice to see that TPV lists the expected wattage for each pacer and not w/kg.
Yeah, it is a minor thing, but I don’t wanna do math when I log on. “Hmmmm….what is the difference between 2.5 and 2.7?” TPV does the conversion automatically and lists the ride in wattage. I instantly know the difference between 150w and 170w.
Sorry! Pull up the in-game menu in the bottom center of the screen (not the main menu, bottom left). In the middle row of icons you’ll see an icon with two heads. That lets you join either another rider you follow or one of the pacers. It won’t show you the power for each pacer so you’ll need to figure that out before you start. When you want to switch pacers, just pull up the menu again and pick a different one.
Agree, although the colors roughly correspond to power zones so I know yellow/citrine is tempo/sweet spot and blue/sapphire is endurance. Once you figure them out it’s pretty easy to remember.
I noticed today that there’s a rainbow banner across the top that shows which zone you’re in while riding. While not perfect…assuming those colors correspond with the Pacer names, that could be helpful in choosing.
I just realized that all the bikes in TPv have rim brakes.
Not that it matters, just an odd decision to spend all that time rendering out-dated bikes.
I’ve used TPv a few times now. I like having my workouts appear automatically, but since they are provided to me from my coach in TP, they also automatically appear in Zwift, so it is a push.
Overall, it is kind of a “meh” for me right now. For shorter stuff, it is fine but when I want / need to do longer stuff, I want a big group ro ride with (like BMTR or DIRT). Those big groups have yet to materialize on TPv yet.
I would say it’s more like ‘picking whatever is in the public database in Unity tagged ‘bike’ and calling it good enough for now’, much like most of the graphics. Considering until less than 2 months ago the whole project was run by one person, I’m happy enough with that - but very interested to see what comes next!
Exactly. A lot of TR workouts are built with sort of open ending like 15 min at 50% and that allows you to make it Z2 for as long as you need, extending CD by, say, 3x10 min. 25% is just not enough, 50% would be ok though, but for the fuck sake - why?
