TrainingPeaks Virtual - [formerly, "Should TrainerRoad link up with IndieVelo"]

It does for most things, but for this app, it doesn’t seem to make a difference.

First choose your route: that screen shows distance and elevation for each route and allows you to sort/filter. Then it’ll be preselected when you switch to the workout screen.

They do need to improve the interface, but for now, it’s easy as pie once you know to do it in that order.

Has anyone figured out how to get a TPV ride into Garmin Connect in a way that utilizes the Garmin training effect?

Yes. Oh, you want more info? :grinning:

… I’ll look it up when I’m back at the pc

I download the fit file from Strava and use fitfiletools to change the device to a Garmin and then upload the file to Connect. But it’s actually easier to just dual record.

Good luck with that!

I don’t use Garmin, seems even easier :stuck_out_tongue:

If you really care about the health data in Garmin connect then dual recording is the way to go… and that goes for everything… not just indievelo.

I use RunGap for that. Far easier than dual recording…except it doesn’t work with TPV

Rungap works with TPV - I use it to sync with Garmin via intervals.icu and considered for training status metrics.

I’m going to PM you so we don’t clutter up the feed

I used TP Virtual on Apple TV for the first time this morning. Had a bit of a time controlling the trainer resistance on climbs, and was a little miffed that I couldn’t pair my pedals and had to rely on the trainer.

I’ve never used Zwift so can’t compare, overall enjoyable but I don’t know how much I’ll be using it.

Funny, I had a 3 hr trainer ride yesterday and was going to give it a shot, but was unable to pair my HR monitor for some reason. Never had any issues with this HR monitor with any other program, so I’m not sure what the problem was. Finally gave up and fired Zwift back up. Seems like some of the connectivity is hit or miss atm.

There is an option in settings to use your pedals as primary (not allowed for tier 1+ races)

I believe that the setting is allowed but tier 1+ will override the setting.

That’s for racing, for training you can use whatever. I’m a bit confused about the original post re not able to pair power pedals, there’s a power meter option in the pairing menu and it’ll even show pedaling dynamics off them… Maybe he did mean as a primary source for racing though

I’m going to try my powertap p2s today and see if they work. I haven’t had any issues with my heart rate monitor pairing. Sometimes it just takes a bit for it to connect - same amount of time with Zwift if I’m being honest.

Sometimes it does take a while yep! I’ve seen 30 seconds thrown about - like, wait at least that long before giving up - but I once had it where I could only connect /see anything on ant+, then when calibrating minutes later the Bluetooth options finally showed up. Even then they weren’t there immediately but I walked to fill my bottles and they appeared in that time.

None of this specific to apple TV, which Iirc only connects 2 devices at once or something.

I may just be tech deficient.

Garmin Rally RK200’s were not being picked up by the app on Apple TV. The app was only identifying my Kickr, which is what I ended up using for power data.

I imagine there is a setting or something similar that I’m just not familiar with.

It could be you’ve hit the limit of allowed connections on ATV, I’ve no idea about it but do recall people talking about only having two bluetooth connections. Maybe try unpairing HRM and see if pedals show up to prove that is or isn’t the case.
