TrainerRoad Calendar has Launched! - List of upcoming features!

That’s a little disappointing :frowning:

I just added a single workout to the calendar, and was presently surprised when I see the cursor default to be in the Search text box. This was a small request from several of us and SOOOO welcome by me because it makes this one step easier, by being able to type our search criteria immediately (instead of having to click and activate the box).

It looks like it is missing, and could still be added in the Annotation option, but I am happy to have it where we do right now. Thanks

Is this a bug? When I have a bike and a run workout scheduled the same day and the run workout has a higher estimated TSS than the bike one, the picture for the bike workout doesn’t show. When the bike TSS is the higher number, I get the picture. Screenshot attached:

  1. The sort in the day is based on TSS, with highest TSS on top (to lowest on bottom when there are 2 or more workouts).

  2. The picture/preview will only show for the top (highest TSS) workout in any case.

My example:

Ah, thanks. I knew about 1 but not 2.

So there’s another issue with multisport workouts, and please hit me in the face if it’s already been discussed.

Essentially, multisport workouts uploaded from Garmin (my TR account is linked to both Strava and Garmin Connect) show up as cycling workouts, which sort of makes no sense. Here’s my recent race (which as you’ll note was a disaster). The swim, run and transition components are shown as if they were all part of one big bike leg, and they produce zero TSS due to no power being recorded.

Would it take a lot of work to “extract” the bike from multisport activities?

I’ve noticed this as well and then have been going in and adding the other workouts with the TSS that is calculated in TP… but it still bothers me that the total time and whatnot from the whole multipart activity is included in what would be my bike leg in TR

I noticed that when I want to do a variant of a workout (e. g. a harder version, because I feel particularly amped one day or a shorter one as I am crunched for time), I get another copy of a workout in my calendar. Instead, I would have expected that the scheduled workout is replaced with another of its variants. This means I will have to edit my schedule manually in the browser to delete the superfluous workout. (I mainly use TR with my iPad, so I can’t access most calendaring features directly.)

You don’t have to delete the other workout…you just assign the one you did to the one that was planned.

Reason that its not automatically deleted…if you wanted to go back and review you’re history you can see where you did a workout different from what was planned by TR.

Thanks, I had no idea. But why isn’t that done automatically?

I guess because some people like to see to two workouts on the calendar itself (the one you did and the one planned) rather than going into the workout done to see which workout it was associated with.

Does that make sense? Currently you can see it easily on the “face” of the calendar, whereas if it was automatically assigned you wouldn’t know that you did a different workout unless you clicked on the specific workout to open it.

Personally I like seeing them separately as by scrolling down the calendar I can quickly and easily see where I changed workouts from the plan but I understand that from your point of view the calendar doesn’t look as clean as you’d like it with both workouts showing

No, that doesn’t make sense to me. Come to think of it, it makes sense to keep track of this change, but that could either adapt the title, eg by appending something like (-1 —> -2), adding a flag/modifier color in the workout or creating a field separate in the description.

We don’t have support for multi sport workouts yet :frowning:.

But when we do here’s how I think we should do it (let me know if this sounds good).

Break out each activity to its own page, but link them visually together. Like have links and some visual representation that these activities were done back to back.

Maybe have a summary on the page that lists the totals of what you did (total time, breakdown time, total kJ, distance, etc).

Thanks for the response @Nate_Pearson, and what you propose makes sense, but I’m not really asking for support for multisport workouts.

What I was hoping for was that the cycling leg would be extracted from the multisport import and recorded in TR as a cycling workout. Quite simply, I would like to see the bike leg imported and not the whole thing, so that I have a 2,5-hour bike workout rather than a 5-hour one (including 2.5 hours at zero power) in TR. Would that make it easier to implement?
I can add the swim and run as separate activities manually, since that’s how we do it with any other swim and run workout.

I see what you’re saying. What you’re asking for would probably be part of the total implementation. We’ve got things further up on the list at the moment though :frowning:.

Sadly this use case isn’t that typical if you through it in with all rides.

Yeah, adding gym workouts is quite awkward in its current implementation, for example. But glad to hear you are working on it.

I think you could do them all on one page if you color code them. Right now you have light green for outdoor rides and dark green for indoor. You could do light/dark blue for swim and light/dark red for runs for example.
You could also have a toggle box where you can toggle if you want to see only swims, bikes, or runs, or all, or toggle any combo of those I guess on calendar and career.

A couple of “simple” things that can significantly improve the app experience for Tri workout plans :

  • the ability to view the workout notes in the app, instead of having to go to the website. The run and swim workout details do not show on the app on the calendar.
  • to be able to mark complete from the calendar TR app the run and swim workouts and adjust the TSS directly from the app.

Thanks @Nate_Pearson

Both of those are coming and being worked on now.
