Trainerroad and Rouvy - I thought it didn't work

I used Trainerroad about ten years+ ago and I have returned to have another go.
I have used other platforms on and off and so thought I may be able to use one with Trainerroad.
Googling made me feel that doing this would not be possible.
I use an Apple TV box at the moment so I would need an Ant+ device to run Trainerroad and control the Tacx Neo then Power / HR would be bluetooth to Apple TV.
I have a Samsung S9+ phone and it appeared that Ant+ no longer would work on it.
I did see a way of pushing outdoor workouts to Garmin Edge and using that to control Neo.

Anyways. Today I did a test just to make sure I could Trainerroad with just the phone and Trainer.
Guess what. Ant+ control showed up which I selected, then strted up Rouvy and unselected Controllable.
Everything worked fine. Phone Any+ controlling Neo and Neo Power and HR going to Apple TV via Bluetooth.
Unexpected happy result.
PS I have pics but don’t know how to post them.

  • This is the key element here. Rouvy didn’t always have that option, so the prohibitions you may have read likely related to the app in that older state.

In short, mixing TrainerRoad with other apps is totally possible, but usually requires the other app to allow for reading only power from the trainer via removing “control” from that 2nd app. Essentially the 2nd app must see the trainer for power data only, not resistance control.
