TR Running Thread 2023

After the YouTube algorithm fed me a number of lactate videos I couldnt help myself and bought a Lactate Plus meter. Just came in so I tested this morning. Which turns out, can get a bit tricky doing it on your own once you’re sweaty… which meant I was forced to take a few samples at times. Still, I feel I managed to take mostly good/valid readings. One exception being at the 12th interval where lactate decreased.

Anyway, would be interesting to hear others opinion on the results. My inexperienced opinion tells me I have a decent aerobic foundation.

LT1 7:53 min/mi (7.6 mph) and 139 BPM
LT2 6:22 min/mi (9.4 mph) and 157 BPM

This is my second time testing. The time was at a local tri shop back in spring of 2022 where they estimated my threshold at 150 BPM. Based on the values from that test it seems my LT1/LT2 have since improved.

BPM <130 Aerobic Recovery
BPM 130-149 Aerobic Endurance
BPM 150-165 Lactate Threshold/VO2
BPM > 165 Anaerobic capacity
