I hated the chamois too.
Bought 2 x the shorts in medium and was so excited to not have to wear my desoto 400 mile bibs on the trainer and deal with the straps.
Terrible.
I have since bought 2 pairs of 400 mile shorts.
If anyone is in the market i have 2 pairs of shorts lol.
I gave up on the Black Bibs after originally being a fan. Mostly the chamois on the cheapo+ model was terrible.
I moved up to Cutaway. More expensive but still a good deal when on sale, also local to me, and my favorite pair of bibs ever. Their cargo bibs (I have the Ridge Supply version and a Cutaway version) get used for every outdoor ride.
I have three of the summer jerseys and like them.
I have two pair of the shorts and the chamois causes chafing to the point of bleeding where you don’t want that happening, worse than any other pair of bibs/shorts I own.
I’m still going strong with my Black Bibs. I’ve had several 3-4hr days in the saddle on the trainer and 6+ outside and haven’t had any negative experiences with the Ultimate model so far. The Plus model doesn’t seem great after 2hr or so, but they work for shorter rides. I wouldn’t say they’re my favorite bibs, but at $65-80, I can’t complain.
