Tarmac SL7 Release date

  • Agreed that $3k is a lot, but I am not sure it is “random”. We don’t know one way or the other.
  • Sure, it’s a halo product. Much like ZR-1 Corvette (top of the heap in power and price), these top end bikes are rare birds and not meant for broad consumption.
  • That’s where the more “mundane” models at half that price (and yet retaining most of the performance benefits) are the “accessible” models like a mid level Camaro is to the 'Vette.

Price for Sworks Tarmac sl7 is OK.

Keep in mind you get a venge and a tarmac for 11499€ :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

When do we think that will happen? Have we even seen a spy shot yet?

I’m thinking we’d see this on the SL7 leaked photos if it was going to happen this year.

Well now we’re talking about half the price being 9k which is still a pretty elite price and the expert tri one is still 11k. I know the top of the line one comes with a disc wheel, while the lower models don’t. I love Specialized and am lucky to have an S-Works Tarmac which I get at a team discount and an Allez Sprint but even with the discount the TT bikes, which I like to think is more my speciality, those are out of the price range. Good think I like Cervelo too, and hunt the used market.

Hi Nate,

next year shimano has a big anniversary. So I guess they will bring the new dura ace next year.

We will see. However DuraAce 11 speed is a great group.

Agree, I don’t think this will happen this year. And I have been told that the SL7 will come with the existing R9100 for know. But I don’t need the bike before next year. Race season is soon over (actually starting after summer with a few races due to covid) and I am using my Diverge for training this fall and winter. So I can wait

The new SL7 comes with Rovals new Rapide CLX which are 50 mm front and 60 mm rear, are not tubeless compatible (so tubes only), and purportedly weigh just 1400 grams for the pair (disc only).

If you search on instagram under #tarmacsl7 you can see some of the color ways… I know there will be more. A black matte carbon with green hologram look similar to the new epic will also be included.

Looks like 15% price hike on SL7s over SL6.

If I needed anymore reason to go with an sl6

Spread the cost

I know the S-Works isn’t for your typical cyclist but at some point I would think financing these things will become much more common. Not to mention bike insurance. I know it exists but I know of no one that has it. That’s a lot of cash to have wrapped up in a bike that can be stolen or taco’d pretty easily.

I got my 2010 EX Honda Civic brand new with 7 miles on it in April of 2010 for 19,300. Crazy to think that 10 years later a decked out TT bike would cost that.

So I’m stupid. I somehow ended up on the Canadian site not US.

I hope it’s not next year! It’s already been 4yrs. I’m hoping that it debuts at the TdF like 9100 did at the 2016 TdF. If not this year, then I will hold on to my SL5 a bit longer.

Which SL7 would you guys buy and why, the one with Durace or AXS? What do you think @Nate_Pearson?

Depends if you are a die hard SRAM or Shimano guy.

If that doesn’t matter, then do you or don’t you want 12spd? Currently only SRAM has 12spd.

I prefer Shimano and want 12spd. I don’t want to buy an 11spd SL7 and then have to replace it w/12spd afterwards. As a result, I will wait until Shimano releases 12spd to get an SL7.

Not where I live in NorCal. It’s S-Works everywhere. Even high school kids are riding S-Works.

I went into my dealer yesterday and saw the photos for the tarmac SL7- the green and black one is confirmed, and also the red and black one and there is one in Carbon /color run green. i really want the tarmac SL7 as i cant buy a venge in Australia (non left anywhere) but the colorways didn’t excite me…really disappointing…amazing bike dont get me wrong…just the colorways are disappointing
