Suggestions for 1-2 Month Trip

I’ve recently had the opportunity arise to take 1-2 months off in between life obligations. I’ve been toying around with the idea of flying to a different country and renting an Airbnb for a month or two for the ultimate training camp! I am looking for suggestions and trip ideas for where I should go. I would be okay with staying in multiple places, but having a home base for a few months seems more relaxing to me.

I’m in my mid 20’s and will be alone. Planning on doing this in May-June 2022. I’ve never left the USA but am excited to do so. Open to all suggestions, thanks!

Are you a roadie or a mountain biker?

So many options! However, I can highly recommend Siena (Italy) as a home base for training. A lot of variety possible (gravel, road, longer hilly climbs, short and steep stuff etc) and the food is also amazing

It’s awesome to have this kind of opportunity! As you have a month or more to ride, I wholeheartedly recommend you see a few places instead of one - if I were you I would consider starting in Austria (great roads, not as expensive as Switzerland) and move towards Italy later - you should definitely include the Dolomites on your list - google Sellaronda for an example of a truly stunning route. Then go down south from the Dolomites and you can stay either near lake Garda or lake Como, really good balance of great routes and decent roads there.

Other good options are the Spanish islands - Tenerife, Gran Canaria or Mallorca. The only downside of these is that after like 2 weeks you will have seen all the routes and will have to fly somethere else, whereas if you’re staying on the continent you could just start from Innsbruck in Austria and work your way through Italy, France all the way to Spain, booking airbnbs near some iconic routes and climbs.
