Strava leaderboards no longer free

Much stronger than my disdain for a crappy-but-free? app.
I don’t mind temporarily debasing myself if it permanently improves someone’s life.
Any tool in the shed to build empowerment!

I’m with you on this one. To me, Strava’s “place in my life” is as my athletic social network, where I keep in touch with friends, clubs, groups, etc about how we work and play on bikes, runs, etc. I wish they’d do this really well. But they have so far blown the opportunity to do clubs, events, conversations, groups, and even comments well, so I see most people doing that on Facebook.

I also value Strava as my overall data hub: everything I do feeds into that, and then from there I move rides into TR or other services. I agree with @AJS914 that they’d be better off getting lots of people to pay $1/month or $10/year. I hope they manage to figure out something sustainable.

lol

The orange joke continues…

You should see Joan’s weekly TSS though mate; she’s been smashing it out of the park on SSBHV2 and is at around 5.5w/kg

He just wants attention

Then stop giving it to me so freely, Mr. Dealer.

I actually wasn’t even talking to you, so there’s that. But if you’re being as childish about “Orange” as you are just because you know the somewhat nonsensical things you say will get people here to call you out for it then you’re really just trolling

Strava has raised even more funding now: Strava raises $110 million in Series F funding - CyclingTips

I wonder if some of the longer-term bugbears and gripes will be sorted or is someone getting a new Porsche?

Hopefully they improve the actual service.

All I continue to want is they offer the same features throughout the leader boards of ALL the weight and age classes and not treat those of us who like competing for segments but aren’t built like 12 year old girls like second class citizens!

They’re rolling on good graces as far as live segment goes, the flat-and-slightly-uphill not showing up basically wipes out states in the Midwest where all we have to do is drag races on flat miles.

What exactly is your complaint with leaderboards?

Their customer support is still abysmal. Around 8 weeks to get a ticket looked at for a paying member.

Yup super annoying to not have a 5 mile segment show up just because it’s -0.2% average grade. I’d at least like to have a little disclaimer or something when I star it so that I’m not wondering why it’s not showing up on my ride. And it seems slightly arbitrary which ‘slightly downhill’ segments are given a green light and which aren’t.
