I’ve been requesting my data regularly for several years. The link has always been sent quickly, within an hour. I made another request yesterday and the link arrived within 15 minutes and my data was downloaded shortly after (~2gb file).
I have had the same experience in the past. Now I’ve been waiting for days with no result. I also filed a support ticket and haven’t heard back.
Edit: but I’m also not crying conspiracy or malintent. I’m willing to accept that there might be a toilet paper run on Strava data after the announcement and maybe some requests just get lost or whatever.
Well Bluetooth HR has worked last 7 years.
I received the requested download link in about 10 minutes’ time this morning. I should note I’ve been using Strava since 2011 and have never paid them a cent.
Link came in a day or so. But the link is email.strava.com Strava | Running, Cycling & Hiking App - Train, Track & Share followed by the huge string of code. Tried three browsers and none can find the server.
What I initially experienced wasn’t a delay as people here said they were getting their on a day at most. I got nothing. Like I said, once I started sending them money again, it seemed like they were more cooperative and I got my email the next day. Yeah, it was a big file, but no way should it have taken over a week to even just respond to say they were working on it. I got nothing.
AND just because it’s in the Strava User Agreement doesn’t make it legal or enforceable in a court. They can put all kinds of nonsense in that agreement and the right court would shoot it down like a duck! And in some venues Strava would have to reimburse court costs. I wish I had that kind of money but I spend it all on tech goodies and bike parts and riding stuff…
I wonder if they will kill that. Hmm…
Run by three year olds? I wouldn’t count it out. Just wonder how long it’ll take for them to see it and react, like that thread they finally killed.
Either way, they are forcing people out, and as soon as there is a valid competitor, people will be fighting to get out the door. (Maybe. The social aspect is compelling for some people)
Exactly! Subscriber perk - done deal
But how much to charge, and how strong are the gates to keep our data locked up so they can ‘sell it back to us’?
Ha. I had , “Overall, it seems you had a solid, efficient ride to start the day”. Only, 1) it was my second ride of the day; 2) it was 6pm ![]()
If there’s one thing that Strava has shown no concern about in the past, it’s “bad press” for starting to charge for things which they used to offer for free. I’ve grumbled about ever-diminishing features in the free sub, but understood why they’ve done it. I would have grumbled about them charger a data transfer fee to export my data collected on a Wahoo to TR, but I’d have probably paid it given that there’s currently no automated alternative and with the understanding that they need revenue to continue to function. However, how they’ve handled this has made me want to do anything possible to avoid ever paying them. Even if they back-tracked now and offered a $1/mo data transfer option, I’d rather buy a new $350 Garmin to replace my almost-new Wahoo.
They would have heard quite a few complaints, but I get it: they have to run a service and that ain’t free. I’d be fine with that … but unfortunately, Strava seems to have different plans.
Now that my Garmin data no longer gets pushed to Strava; I am in that withdrawal phase. Soon the addiction to sharing my data on Strava will pass. Then a new world beckons.
I’ve already realized that I enjoy not “having” to log in every day to give kudos to people who could probably care less about my thumbs up.
I am still trying to get over losing their mapping tool though. I much prefer it to using Garmin or RwGPS route creation.
I will probably wait until Rapha 500 passes (if they offer the badge).

I fully agree Chad!
I’m in the same boat. We’ll have to buy a Garmin watch to upload to TR?
I think, other than Strava, TrainerRoad currently only gets completed activities from Garmin Connect (if they’re recorded on a Garmin device) and from Hammerhead. They’re also working on syncing from Wahoo and Zwift:
Hopefully they add syncing with Polar, Coros, etc. to their roadmap so they don’t have to rely on Strava anymore.
Until a few months ago TR wasn’t taking any of my outdoor rides into account whatsoever, and it was fine, wasn’t it? This new feature is nice to have, but it’s not so crucial that I would throw money on new watch.
I’d even say that if something happens with my watch, I’ll definitely go buy another Suunto than switch brands. Having watch that I really like to wear 24/7 is way more important than TR integration.
But that’s just me ![]()
