The reason they require you to send in a chain or purchase a chain is because a lot of the wattage savings for wax chains is in the prep (mainly the stripping and application). This way they handle that aspect and can stand behind their savings claims.
@alexgold123 is right - this is adding the 400g from the ride to my 200g baseline for a 600g total for that day.

Thanks for that Alex, is it that Specialized now use ICE chains or just yourself? I do enjoy the ultrasonic cleaning process myself, something satisfying about cleaning chains and cassette.
Just myself - The cleaning isnβt necessarily the hard part - to get the most out of a wax chain the chainring, cassette and pulley wheels should still be ultrasonic-ed anyway. ICE will inpsect each chain for imperfections and make sure all the packing grease or left over wax/dirt/grime is removed and retest it to guarantee results.
