So.....far...confused and not happy DialedHealth/TrainHeroic

I’ve used the combination of both DialedHealth and Trainerroad for years.. always from my laptop, attached to the t.v. (not much of an App person) With the integration of Trainheroic to DialedHealth… I sure hope I can continue to use the original website, and calendar programs as I’ve been doing. The simplicity of moving workouts, and adding…. is easy, so awesome. Similar to Trainerroad. I did as asked however.. and dowloaded the Trainheroic app… and … from first glance, it sucks.. I don’t even see my Dialedhealth Durability and Off Season Road programs, nor can I understand how to fix it, or get answers ? If…. I can continue the old way… all good, I’m happy!!! I will continue to integrate, and move DialedHealth to pair with my Trainerroad workouts… if not, I sure hope Trainerroad has similar weight/core/ etc options coming. Anyone else apart of Dialedfam, that has gone through this?

I don’t have any input here, because I wanted to re-subscribe next week. I very quickly had a look at the TrainHeroic app and it seemed alright. But I haven’t actually used it, so I will keep a keen eye on this thread.

Soooo…. Derek got back to me after a couple days (which is good). I’m so spoiled with TrainerRoad fairly instant “chat”.. The TrainHeroic is “live” with DialedHealth now, and so people are grandfathered over. Yet, we will continue to use DialedHealth’s original website/App.. until Jan 1st, when everything will be transferred to TrainHeroic and as far as I am told, it will be better

Just an fyi the price increased to 30 a month once it went to the new app. Or so the email said.

Wukarfit (Art O’Connor) currently uses TrainHeroic It’s “okay” but :man_shrugging:t2:

I actually track the time on my Garmin watch and it syncs to TR, but for movements and substitutions I have to go back to TrainHeroic

is there a good, inexpensive app for weight training, meant more for people who want to be fit but not get jacked, other than Dialed Health? I know it’s supposed to be cycling focused, which I like, but I’m to sure I appreciate the monthly cost for a static set of videos/plans.

As mentioned previously I bought the WukarFit 3 month plan and have been running it for the last two years. It uses the TrainHeroic app which works well, isn’t crazy.

I really like Arts plan, think it gets you in great bike shape and isn’t a crazy time commitment. 2 workouts a week, 30-45 minutes. He’s coaching a lot of pros and regulars including Keegan Swenson

I tried Dialed Health a few years ago, but I’ve been using Volt Athletics for a few years and still using it. I do the ‘General Fitness’ program. It has a good balance of upper body, legs, and core strength. Easy to substitute similar exercises if you don’t have the equipment or want similar movement (e.g., substitute sit squats for full squats). Based on your feedback, its AI is good at increasing/decreasing weights and reps. $130 annually. I use it either on my iPad or Pixel. However, it does not sync to external apps. I use my Garmin watch to track these workouts and sync to Strava/TrainerRoad.

Yes, I was worried about that as well… however current users got “grandfathered” over at the original price. It worked for me, altho I did confirm by e-mail. I can say, Derek said it will be in full go, everything transferred over in January.. so some delays. Having been grandfathered over I have no problem and makes sense, as I wan’t someone that asked for the change. I love his original website and options. In saying that….. If the “grandfathered” over only lasts a few months or so, I’ll definitely be relooking at options. I’ve used DialedHealth from the start, and it continues to help me get my best weight, and FTP. However, after decades of using programs… if the price increases or doubles… for me, its no longer a need.

I follow EverAthlete, as our Juniors team (and I believe also Kristen Armstrong!) have worked with him, and I think his exercises are fantastic. I don’t actually use his programs because I do a program from my coach, but I’ve added in several exercises I’ve seen him show on IG, and I agree with his philosophy and exercises in general. This is more for cyclists/runners, so not sure if it fits what you’re asking for, but I haven’t seen anyone talk about this before so wanted to throw it out there.

As a former Dialed Health user I’m looking for a new strength training plan. Was considering using the WUKAR off season strength training plan. Did you find it had variety over the 3 month period and did you continue using WUKAR’s in season plan?

Yeah I think the plan has good variety, although by the middle of the 3rd month I start getting pretty tired of weighted step ups. Workouts usually have 2-3 big components and a couple accessory lifts and core work. Phases are well planned out as well.

I can’t speak to his in season plan as I haven’t done that, but I imagine it’s more of the core work and more explosive portion of the offseason. Probably should do the core work year round. I feel really strong coming out of his program on the bike.

which 3 month plan did you get? Gym, bodyweight or minimal equipment?

I went with the gym option. Some barbell squats, deadlifts, kettle bells, dumbbells, etc. Ab wheel and bosu ball also used a lot

Thanks for your quick reply.

Just checking that it’s not the same 2 workout routines for the whole 12 weeks?

My motivation with strength training is aimed more at everyday functional fitness rather than making me faster on the bike. The objective is more to make me a well rounded human capable of doing non cycling tasks and protecting from injury imbalances. However I also want something that will compliment cycling and not compromise my cycling workouts!

the tactical barbell books are awesome. You can learn how to set up your own training with compound movements, progressive overload. and nothing overly complicated.
