I am curious if there is a way to schedule my commutes. I try to commute as often as possible and these rides are long enough and strenuous enough that they really affect my ability to train indoors. My morning ride is around 1 hour at 15+ miles with 900+ feet of climbing. Afternoon ride is the same distance but only 600+ feet of climbing (I work on top of a hill) and so it is a little less than an hour in duration.
I realize that I can manually add “Solo Ride” and name them “AM Commute” and “PM Commute”,respectively. However, I am not going to do that everyday. Call me lazy, but that is WAY too much effort.
What I would like to do is to create these rides and save them somehow so that I can easily add them to the calendar with a few clicks. Copy and paste would also work. I have tried many times over the years to do this as the platform has evolved, but have never found a way. Maybe I am missing something. This would not be surprising.
Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.
When you add a solo ride you can just click ‘make it repeating’ and there’s no need to enter it every week/ copy and paste. Thats how my commutes are set up. If for some reason you don’t do them, annual leave or something just delete the occurrence. It gives you the option to delete all but you just have to tell the system to delete one occurence.
I also add solo rides, and try to keep them as easy as is feasible. Some small anaerobic or vo2 workouts can be sneaked in sometimes but I can’t get real quality outside.
Just be aware that this is likely to undermine your fitness, not increase it.
We are always looking for gradual and progressive overload, and recovery. Two or three hard days a week.
I understand that commuting isn’t ideal for training, but it is important to me. I take part in Randonneuring events so I am not looking to win anything. I use TR for a bit of added intensity and when I am either strapped for time or it is one of the rare rainy days in Southern California. I have often relied on the Train Now feature to accomplish this, but decided to give Plan Builder a try last year. It has worked alright so far, but I want to see what happens when I indicate ahead of time that I will be commutting for the next 5 days and then riding a 300k on Sunday - for example.
